**Duties & Responsibilities**
- 1. Engage and build relationships with students, hear their stories, and identify the challenges that students are facing
- 2. Create, develop, and maintain professional relationships with community partners
- 3. Plan and develop on site and virtual, timely and relevant, mental health and wellbeing activities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including Student Life, North Island Students’ Union, Counselling, Department of Accessible Learning Services, Library and Learning Commons, Office of Global Engagement, Indigenous Education, Centre for Teaching and Learning Innovation, academic faculty, and community resources. Initiatives may include but are not limited to
a. Coordination of training programs
- mental health, first aid training, suicide prevention training
- b. Development, promotion, and coordination of wellbeing events and activities to provide information, connection, and engagement
- 4. Take direction from the CARE2 Plan, Okanagan Charter, National Standard of Canada for Mental Health and Wellbeing for Post-Secondary Students, and the First National Health Authority Policy on Mental Health (among other documents) as road maps
- 5. Support and guide the work of students and student volunteers to organize health and wellbeing events
- 6. Develop resources, and contribute to the development of policies, that can be used by students, staff, and faculty in supporting the wellbeing of the campus community
- 8. Assess and evaluate initiatives and provide a written report to be shared with both internal and external stakeholders
- 9. Participate in committees to provide health and wellbeing promotion expertise and to promote a healthy student community

- 1. Bachelors degree in related field such as education, psychology, health promotion, counselling, or social work
2. Minimum 3 years of recent and relevant experience providing health and wellbeing education services in a post-secondary institution or equivalent setting
3. Experience working with and learning from First Nations communities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ2+ communities will be considered an asset**Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities**
- 1. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and collaboratively across departments to work as part of a cohesive team.
2. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network and build relationships.
3. Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a detailed-oriented and individualized approach. This includes the ability to communicate to culturally and socially diverse audiences.
4. Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to engage audiences of various sizes.
5. Excellent organization, time management, interpersonal, and project management skills, as well as the ability and desire to work closely with both internal and external community groups.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked team environment.
7. Intermediate level of knowledge of office software, technology-based communications, and student record databases.
8. Able to work flexible hours and to travel between NIC campuses as required.
