**Hours**:9 hours/per week
**Schedule**: Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday from 6:00 - 9:00pm

**In accordance with Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada’s regulations, all applicants must be Permanent Residents of Canada or Canadian Citizens.**

**A clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check are required and must be submitted to complete the hiring process.**

**PRIMARY FOCUS/OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY**:
Assist individual LINC students with settlement issues that are posing barriers to language acquisition and/or to their adjustment to life in Canada. Aid students on site and/or refer students to helping agencies and organizations as required. Provide information and assistance to LINC students in their pursuit of training and/or employment.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES**

1. Adhere to all ECSD LINC policies and procedures;
2. Practice cultural awareness, sensitivity, and respect in the workplace;
3. Adhere to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) with respect to students’ and employee’s personal information;
4. Establish a welcoming, safe and positive learning environment for students;
5. Ensure you are informed of the Crisis Management Plan for the LINC site;
6. Provide information and orientation support to students with practical guidance on everyday living concerns, such as housing, banking, shopping, transportation, and access to social and health services;
7. Adhere to IRCC regulations/guidelines concerning limitations for providing service to clients;
8. Provide accurate, updated information on educational and post-secondary options and opportunities offered by public and private providers in the community;
9. Research support agencies and services available in the community and provide referrals and/or information to clients pertinent to their needs;
10. Assist administrative support with student registrations, as needed;
11. Maintain a secure filing and record system of all student information and documentation;
12. Input monthly iCARE reporting for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC);
13. Submit activity reports as required to the Site Coordinator;
14. Liaise with the Student Advisor Lead and the other Student Advisors in the ECSD LINC programs;
15. Ensure workspace is clean and tidy at the end of each working shift;
16. Work amicably as a team member; sharing workspaces, participating in and contributing to material exchange, staff meetings and professional development; and,

17. Perform additional duties as required by the Site Coordinator or Program Manager.

**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**
- Degree in Faculty of Social Services or related degree;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, considered an asset;
- 1 - 3 years’ experience serving Newcomers to Canada related to settlement needs;
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, students, funders, community partners, and others;
- Experience working in a cross-cultural setting;
- Knowledge of issues/barriers facing immigrants in Canada;
- Demonstrated sensitivity dealing with confidential information;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- Ability to multi-task while dealing with concurrent projects;
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills; and,
- Ability to work independently with solid time management and organizational skills.
