**Position Description**

**Position Title**: Manager, Corporate Communications

**Reports To**:Chief Communications Officer

**Purpose of Position**:
The Manager, Corporate Communications is a hands-on participative manager in supporting and implementing CM’s communications strategy. This person will support CM’s strategic goals and objectives, providing strategic communications support and managing external communications with producers, stakeholders and the media.

Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer (CCO), the Manager, Corporate Communications is a key member of the communications and marketing team.

**KEY Responsibilities**:

- ** Corporate Communications**
- Support the development and implementation of Circular Materials’ communications strategy;
- Ensure communications are consistent with corporate direction and established priorities;
- Manage internal and external communications, ensuring communications are clear, concise and accurate;
- Develop corporate communications collateral/messaging for a variety of audiences (internal, external clients, producers, stakeholders, regulators, etc.);
- Prepare presentations, scripts and other related stakeholder communications materials
- Develop and manage communications for CM’s customers;
- Ensure quality management and continuous improvement systems are implemented to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of CM’s communications to customers;
- Provide communications support to other departments/areas as needed including supporting in the development and implementation of communications plans.
- Support media relations, including preparing information and developing messaging/Q&A;
- Support crisis communications and incident response through advance planning and preparation to protect and enhance CM’s reputation;
- Oversee media monitoring activities and ensure that media reports of interest to CM are circulated and/or filed as appropriate;

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS**:
Knowledge
- Demonstrated knowledge of communication protocols.
- Knowledge of website, visual design and use of social media.
- Knowledge of the disciplines of effective communications, sales and marketing, stakeholder relations, reputation and crisis management.
- University degree in Communications or related field
- A minimum of 4 years work experience in corporate communications

- Well-developed issues management skills, to anticipate risk and prepare contingency plans, anticipate problems that may arise, identify problems as they are emerging, assess impacts, alert and support the CCO as appropriate, and implement and communicate solutions.
- Effective judgment and decision-making skills.
- Able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Able to identify creative ideas about a given topic or situation and develop creative ways to solve a problem.
- Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal with the ability to tailor as appropriate for the needs of the audience in order to convey messages effectively and accurately.
- Able to translate technical information into factual and understandable messages.
- Able to manage media relations including acting as a corporate spokesperson and developing and maintaining effective relationships with the media.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including negotiation, persuasion and collaboration.

Quick-thinking and extremely flexible with the ability to function under complex and challenging situations; handles stress well; able to manage situations with a calm demeanor when encountering the unexpected; is a settling influence in a crisis.
