Position Summary
Effective September 7th, 2021 all applicants must provide proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 (in the form of watermark receipts from the provincial portal) or provide written proof of a medical or religious reason for not being fully vaccinated as per the provincial direction as set out by the CMOH Directive 6.
Primary Responsibilities
Development and ongoing process improvement of the staff peer support program.
Development of the training, recruitment, orientation, scheduling, debriefing and other support that may be required by peer support staff. Also, informing related promotional and employee engagement strategies related to this program
Supporting BCHS teams in emotional debriefing of critical incidents, catastrophic events, complex clinical situations that would require consultation with Ethics. This includes follow up activities with specific clinical programs and planning with program manager, director and Senior Leadership and Organizational Health
Providing brief or longer term therapeutic support to staff, medical staff and volunteers either individually or in group format (in person and virtual)
Provide consultation to Organizational Health regarding return to work plans and disability support management support for staff, medical staff and volunteer related mental health & addictions issues.
Collaborate with wellness committee to support organizational wellness initiatives
Program planning and related administrative tasks.
**Qualifications**:
Bachelor’s degree in a Regulated Health Professional field (Master’s degree is preferred).
Advanced clinical skills that would be acquired through continuing educational training from certified and recognized institutions
A minimum of 5 years in a related field
A minimum of one year on the job required to develop & implement a new program.
Mandatory Competencies
Experienced gained in undergraduate and graduate post-secondary training
- clinical placement and/or supervised practice.
Experienced gained as a clinician working in a hospital based or community mental health agency as a part of a multidisciplinary team or individual private practice.
Understanding of the contributors to burnout, empathic strain and other mental health related squali for healthcare workers and accepted approaches to care for this population.
Experience supporting persons with concurrent disorders and appropriate therapeutic i interventions, such as: Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Transtheoretical Model of Change.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and function in a changing and sometimes demanding work environment
Independent thought leadership - ability to work independently, make timely decisions and drive solutions forward under pressure.
Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and implement solutions at the management level.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with all levels of employees and management.
Able to identify and resolve issues to implement change and efficiency
Excellent communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, decision making and time management skills
Promotes team collaboration and consultation and committed to team development and collaboration
Demonstrated commitment to professional growth
