Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) a leading, innovative and client-focused law firm in Canada is seeking a Specialist, Client Engagement Terms to join our team.

Purpose of the Role:
The Client Terms team is a new and growing team of specialists supporting the business in client intake and with complex client requirements. More and more clients are laying out guidelines and fee requirements that we must follow when providing legal services. Failing to comply results in errors, rework, lost billings and impacts our client relationships. The Client Terms Specialist is responsible for centralizing client requirement documents, reviewing and capturing key details and disseminating this information back to the business in a timely and appropriate manner using new processes and/or new system functionality. This role can be located in our Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa or Calgary offices.

Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of this role are:
Supporting the Business
- Corresponds with stakeholders in maintaining quality discount and fee arrangement data in Aderant
- Provides training and support to LSS during matter intake on budget and fee agreement details
- Responds to firm member's requests for client term documents such as engagement letters and client guidelines
- Reminds the lawyers and other stakeholders of upcoming client rate/fee agreement expiry dates and other financial deadlines
- Collaborates with various departments including all practice groups, various business service teams, managers and programmers

Client and Matter Data Management
- Centralizes client term documents in Intapp Terms (guidelines, rate/fee agreements, etc.)
- Updates Aderant with caps, flat fees, budgets, budget alerts and commercial managers
- Reviews and interprets rate/fee agreements, engagement letters and client guidelines to ensure quality data is captured in our Aderant and Intapp Terms
- Reviews and provides guidance in Grandparent client groups
- Responsible for ensuring accuracy; completeness and integrity of our system data

Process Improvements and Systems Enhancements
- Gathers data to support business strategy decisions, to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Supports the implementation of process improvements and system enhancements
- Develops strategies for capturing and communicating client term requirements to all Business Services members
- Tests system enhancements and provides guidance and feedback

Key Competencies:

- Post-Secondary degree or equivalent combination of skills and experience
- Minimum 5 years law firm experience, or comparable professional services industry experience
- Solid understanding of legal and business environments is essential
- Experience with Intapp Open, Aderant (CMS) or other legal software an asset
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal, organization, communication and time management skills
- Excellent ability to work collaboratively with a team and to work independently
- A team player with a strong work ethic and a desire for continuous improvement
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Bilingual in English/French would be an asset
