**Position Overview**

The **Faculty of Kinesiology** is currently seeking a Full-time Regular **Aquatic Supervisor**.

The position of Aquatic Supervisor is a full time position at the University of Calgary Aquatic Centre of the Faculty of Kinesiology and the University of Calgary. This employee will report directly to the Aquatic Manager. Schedule will consist of early morning or late evenings, with one day on the weekends, Scheduled training and in service days are mandatory, and will be conducted at least three times per year. There will also be times when overtime is required. A typical schedule would be either:
Option A: Tuesday to Saturday, with one early morning shift per week (typically a Thursday or Saturday morning 5 am start)
Option B: Sunday to Thursday, with two late shifts per week (typically a Monday and Wednesday 11pm finish)

**Position Description**

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Aquatic Management
- Develop and maintain the budget associated with an instructional portfolio.
- Develop and maintain an instructional portfolio: schedule, publications, staffing parent/staff communications.
- Assist in bi-monthly payrolls: verification and encoding.
- Develop the staff schedule: daily by shifts and by term.
- Hire, train, and supervise part time staff.
- Participate in staff mentoring, training, and performance feedback.
- Participate and develop staff in-services.

Safety Supervision
- Implement and enforce national, provincial, local, and university guidelines.
- Be responsible for developing the staff schedule by term.
- Act as a deck supervisor and instructor as required.

Operational Expertise
- Maintain a healthy and safe aquatic environment according to national and provincial standards.
- Develop and participate in the annual pool shutdown.
- Perform and supervise daily/monthly maintenance operations.
- Communication expertise: with staff, clients and the faculty.
- Develop and maintain staff credentials.
- Develop and maintain newsletters.
- Maintain communications with all publications/newsletters/schedules with all groups.
- Promoting effective ways to establish positive relationships with all groups.ill

**Qualifications / Requirements**:
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary institutional degree, diploma or certificate.
- A minimum of two years relevant aquatic work experience at a supervisory level.

Personal Skills
- Demonstrates leadership in emergency or crisis situations.
- Able to work independently as well as within a team structure.
- Has expertise in planning and time management.
- Ability to problem solve and make decision.
- Computer competency is expected, especially in the software programs associated with Word and Excel.

Required Certifications
- Pool Operators Level One.

Desirable Certifications
- Pool Operators: Level 2 or 3.
- C.A.L.A. or A.F.L.C.,A. water fitness specialty.
- Lifesaving Society Instructor.
- Bronze Examiner.
- N.L. Instructor/Examiner (Lifesaving Society).
- Water Safety Instructor Trainer (Red Cross).
- Assistant Lifeguard or Lifeguard Instructor (Red Cross).
- C.P.R.: Level C Instructor.
- Standard First Aid Instructor.
- W.H.I.M.I.S. Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
