**Highlights of the job**:
We are hiring a full time, permanent **Manager, Learning & Development** working out of Edmonton, AB.

This position may be eligible for EPCOR’s hybrid work program.

**What you’d be responsible for**:

- **Strategy**: Providing input into the Learning & Development (L&D) plans and directions, ensuring an appropriate understanding of the strategy across the team. Initiating and maintaining strong cross-functional relationships across L&D and EPCOR.
- **Performance**: Developing and implementing stratum appropriate deliverables within the context of the L&D business plan. Ensuring deliverables of direct reports are aligned and integrated, stratum appropriate and include performance expectations and deliverable metrics.
- **Structure**: Developing, implementing and maintaining an appropriate organization design by providing clear accountabilities and authorities to direct reports.
- **Talent**: Creating and managing a strong team of employees, including recruitment, retention and development.
- **Technical Training**: Providing leadership support and guidance on training development, best practices and use of technologies with consideration of the audience, content and competences.
- **Operational Excellence**: Working collaboratively to establish process and systems that will create a consistent employee experience, enable competency tracking, support administrative activities and enable online learning and records management.
- **Trend Analysis**: Monitoring and analyzing training trends to improve development and delivery of training programs
- **Facilitation**: Working closely with other Managers within L&D to facilitate the development of effective training products.
- **Culture**: Developing and nurturing a collaborative, high performance, safe, accountable, focused and innovative work environment.

**What’s required to be successful**:

- Bachelor degree in any business area (commerce, business admin., finance, human resources) or education (preferably adult education).
- 3+ years of leadership experience and at least 10 years of experience in a large training environment. Leadership and management experience in a unionized environment and large utility would be considered an asset.
- Broad-based business operations or performance knowledge and understanding of change management principles.
- Demonstrated ability in technical training management and advanced knowledge of adult learning concepts with the proven ability to assess opportunities for organizational improvements and implement accordingly.
- Proven ability to collaborate in the development of systems, tools and processes to deliver learning programs.
- Certification in Project Management is considered an asset.

Technical Skills:

- **Strategy**: Ability to create a development strategy that identifies the direction, delivery, processes and procedure documentation while following adult learning and technical writing principles.
- **Project management**: Effective project manager, able to prioritize simultaneous deliverables under tight deadlines with a concern for client and business goals.
- **System Delivery**: Excellent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Oracle learning systems, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Pro, Storyline, and other eLearning rapid production technology. Have a clear understanding of how to publish and test courses. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Visio, and Audacity. Good working knowledge of virtual reality technology and App development. Basic working knowledge of learning management systems (Oracle Learning Management System preferred) and html.
- **Problem Solving**: Creative problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
- **Communication**: Ability to understand how to prototype, outline and storyboard ideas when developing training materials. Strong verbal communication skills: articulate, concise and audience appropriate.
- **Remote delivery**: Skilled in defining approaches to deliver training to local/remote employees.
- **Business acumen**: Can objectively balance the needs of the business, the learners and the project timelines/budget to get the best results. Understanding of process design would be an asset.
