**Position Summary**:
The City of Fort Saskatchewan has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, highly competent, results orientated, progressive leader. Reporting to the Fire Chief, the Deputy Chief - Emergency Management is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing emergency preparedness and disaster response activities for the City of Fort Saskatchewan. Planning and preparedness includes prevention, mitigation, response, and recovery activities. The Deputy Chief develops, coordinates, validates, and maintains the Municipal Emergency Plan; is responsible for taking a lead role in corporate Business Continuity Planning; and will represent the City locally, regionally, provincially, and nationally in matters relating to Emergency Management and Business Continuity. This position will act as the Director of Emergency Management (DEM) as required.

**Responsibilities**:

- Include:
- Maintains the Municipal Response Plan in accordance with adjacent acts or plans, while developing and maintaining policies, procedures and methods for emergency planning and preparedness.
- Coordinates emergency responses, verifies and conducts readiness exercises to all facets of the Emergency Plan.
- Develops, coordinates, and provides training and education for disaster response exercises.
- Prepares Incident Action Plans and maintains knowledge and information associated with the Emergency Plan.
- Liaises with industry as the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) representative to ensure compliance with the bylaw, including but not limited to, submission of ERP and mandatory reporting.
- Coordinates, executes, and validates emergency preparedness training and appropriate training programs with all applicable stakeholders.
- Develops, designs, monitors, improves, and implements plans to help raise public awareness of issues to the community.
- Provides direction and support to City departments in the development of department Business Continuity Plans.
- Coordinates staff in an emergency in accordance with the City of Fort Saskatchewan policies, guidelines, and corporate values.
- Will respond to large, complex, or multiple emergency incidents fulfilling an incident management role.
- Develops and manages the Emergency Management budget. This may include work plans and emergency services business planning both long and short term.

**Qualifications**:
A current 5-year drivers abstract and a Police Security Clearance with a Vulnerable Sector Check is required at time of interview.
