Public Outreach and Education Office develops provincial programs that promote transportation safety; works with community networks to deliver transportation safety programs; and monitors transportation user safety activity through liaisons with stakeholders and other jurisdictions.

The Regional Strategic Outreach and Education Coordinator provides education and stakeholder engagement expertise, in English and French, to the delivery of public outreach initiatives that promote Ontario's transportation safety programs and facilitate linkages, relationships, and partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders within a region.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role you will
- Develop and implement regional plans that align with the unit's provincial program and campaign strategies
- Participate in and provide expertise to the planning and development of both long and short-term marketing initiatives
- Conduct research and environmental scans to maintain knowledge and awareness of issues in other jurisdictions
- Plan, coordinate and lead ongoing stakeholder/organization/community partner initiatives and events
- Provide input strategic expertise to the planning, design and delivery of public education initiatives
- Prepare briefing notes, correspondence, presentations, Minister's speaking notes, media messaging and public education products
- Participate on ministry and cross-ministry committees and working groups as they relate to public outreach and education initiatives

**Stakeholder / Relationship Management**:

- You can develop and maintain an extensive network of resources that can support/enhance collaborations for strategy and campaign development.
- You can act as media spokesperson, communicate with stakeholders, senior management, other ministries
- You can engage with regional partners, committees and other stakeholders to develop a set of opportunities with achieving the objective

**Technical Knowledge**:

- You have knowledge of government policies, procedures and directives as it relates to transportation safety program
- You can provide expertise to strategic planning, development, and implementation of programs to support marketing and public education activities and campaigns
- You have the ability to develop education material and to guide community/organization partners in the development of public education print materials.

**Communication Skills**:

- You have cultural awareness and cross-cultural communication and engagement skills to facilitate training and information sessions across different cultural perspectives and groups
- You can develop communications products, prepare correspondence, develop media promotional materials, public education campaign materials, briefing notes, Minister's speaking notes.
- You have knowledge of computer operations and associated standard office and specialized software and tools to prepare reports, spreadsheets, presentations, briefing notes etc.

**Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills**:

- You can use research techniques and methodologies to conduct research and environmental scans to maintain knowledge and awareness of transportation safety issues in other jurisdictions.
- You have the ability to build an understanding among external regional stakeholders and partners of the ministry's strategic direction, mandates and priorities.
- You have the ability to analyze data and information,and develop solutions and recommendations for consideration of senior decision-makers.
