With more than 4,000 employees in communities across the province and a highly mobile workforce, meaningful recognition is critical to a positive workplace where employees feel their contributions are valued and celebrated.- With a strong focus on retention, the Manager of Recognition, BCEHS, plays a crucial role in creating a necessary environment for each employee’s experience at BCEHS to be in alignment with our organizational values as well as with our organizational commitment to psychological safety, cultural safety, and cultural humility.- Reporting to the Director, Organizational Development, and working across the entire organization,- the Manager, Recognition and Retention will lead a strategic and innovative approach for developing, designing, refreshing and implementing programs that support meaningful recognition and retention of staff.- The Manager provides leadership to the continuum of services related to employee recognition and retention including but not limited to the employee engagement and pulse surveys, Celebration of Excellence awards, Long Service awards, Exemplary Service medal awards, retirement, as well as more informal programs that support every day and team-based recognition, including high fives, mini-grants and holiday celebrations.**Key Accountabilities**:

- Leads a team of Recognition and Retention specialists and coordinators in accordance with BCEHS values and leadership accountabilities.
- Responsible for allocation of resources, prioritizing portfolio responsibilities, managing project budgets, and enabling performance development equally for all team members.
- Works closely in collaboration with Employee Experience and Human Resources Development leadership to co-design vision and strategy for all Recognition and Retention programing within BCEHS’s talent management framework to support an overall culture of recognition.
- Provides leadership and guidance in the implementation and evaluation of Recognition and Retention Services related strategies to support the business plans of the various management groups as well as operational teams within BCEHS.
- Manages recognition programs across BCEHS by performing duties such as reviewing program needs and options, forecasting utilization and costs, obtaining item costs and preparing cost scenarios, liaising with vendors, ordering and logistics and working with Department Managers on the operational aspects of recognition programs.
- Chairs and coordinates an awards selection committee made up of a broad representation of employees and managers across BCEHS.
- Manages the awards nomination, vetting and selection process as well as the awards ceremonies.
- Manages budget, resources, staff and administrative assistance to receive, store and ship recognition gifts. Ensures appropriate secure storage and inventory management of on-site recognition gifts.
- Re-designs and improves recognition events/programs/services as required to be timely, meaningful for the recipient, and sustainable.
- Works collaboratively with staff and managers across BCEHS to support recognition events.
- Manages BCEHS Celebration of Excellence awards program ensuring wide-spread organizational awareness of the awards as well as appropriate selection criteria and recipient acknowledgment within the organization. Coordinate BCEHS Celebration of Excellence awards with BCEHS Leaders Forum events annually.
- Manages and continually improves upon all aspects of BCEHS employee preferred purchasing program to distinguish BCEHS as an employer of choice.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a post-secondary degree plus seven (7) years' recent related experience working within or directly with a health care system. Additional experience working within a unionized environment preferred.- Excellent interpersonal skills along with the capability of providing leadership to a diverse team and building enduring relationships across all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Thorough knowledge of research and best practices of recognition and retention.
- Experience working in an event coordination capacity.
- Ability to forecast, develop, and administer organizational and project budgets.
- Knowledge and understanding of project management and quality improvement principles and methodologies.
- Proven ability to track, coordinate and integrate issues as they affect BCEHS strategic objectives regarding recognition and retention.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with the ability to write or edit high quality business documents (e.g. project plans, progress reports, project wrap-up doc
