**Career Opportunity: manager, employee experience & recognition**
Join an organization that plays a critical role in Canada’s economy. At the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, we focus on doing the incredible work it takes to become the world’s most sustainable port.
The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is responsible for the stewardship of the Port of Vancouver, Canada’s largest and most diversified port. Our mandate as a Canada Port Authority, as set out by the Canada Marine Act, is to enable Canada’s trade objectives, ensuring goods are moved safely and responsibly through the Port of Vancouver. That means providing infrastructure and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of marine traffic and cargo within the port. It also means we carry out reviews of proposed activities and developments on federal port lands and waters to determine whether a project can go ahead without impacts to the environment and community that cannot be mitigated.
We are passionate about the work we do and what it contributes to our local communities, the region and our country. This is reflected in our values of collaboration, continuous improvement, accountability and customer responsiveness.
Be a part of a team that advances initiatives to promote economic prosperity through trade, a healthy environment and thriving communities for the future generations of Canadians. It’s a workplace where the intrinsic value of your contribution to help foster the continued growth of the Canadian economy becomes a tangible reality. Bring your unique strengths, perspectives and experiences to the port authority and join us in charting a course toward a sustainable future.
Reporting to the director, events & experience, the Manager is responsible for developing and ensuring the execution of internal events, employee experience and recognition programs at the port authority. This includes programs such as employee recognition, wellness programs, social events, and other activities aimed at creating a positive and productive workplace environment aligned to the organization’s culture and values. The Manager provides leadership, direction, and management of team members, helping to ensure that the employees have the right tools and behaviours that foster effective engagement, collaboration, and teamwork. This role partners with human resources, internal communications, and other departments to drive a positive employee experience.
The manager, employee experience & recognition will:
- Ensure that there is support and buy-in for employee experience initiatives at all levels of the organization.
- Identify opportunities to drive positive employee experience in a hybrid work environment, ensuring that employees utilize and adopt the right systems, practices, and processes that foster collaboration, connection, and teamwork.
- Manage the creation of an optimized workplace environment that builds community, brings employees together, maintains a safe, secure, and healthy workplace, and ensures a productive and engaging setting.
- Proactively look for opportunities to bridge gaps and enhance the employee experience through the latest technology, techniques and tools that help improve organizational effectiveness and collaboration at all levels.
- Promote the strategies and programs designed by the employee engagement team that cultivate a collaborative, open and innovative culture aligned to our organizational values.
- Work closely with human resources, internal communications, and other departments to lead the participation in industry awards and competitions such as Canada’s Top 100 Employers, helping ensure that the organization is recognized as an employer of choice.
- Manage the development and delivery of employee recognition, awards, and appreciation programs, celebrations and events designed to enhance the overall employee experience.
- Manage and deliver the length of service awards program, including liaising with vendors and managers to ensure that employees receive recognition and appreciation on their work anniversary.
- Design, develop and ensure the delivery of employee awards programs and schemes, managing nominations, vetting and selection process as well as employee awards ceremonies.
- Provide leadership and support to the social and thrive committees, helping to provide direction around the planning and execution of company-wide social events and wellbeing and wellness activities, on time and on budget.
- Ensure that all employee events and activations are planned and delivered throughout the year safely, on time and on budget.
