SuperNOVA is a not-for-profit initiative of Dalhousie University that provides experiential learning for school aged youth in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). SuperNOVA offers innovative workshops, summer camps, clubs, and community events throughout Atlantic Canada that provide youth with fun and rewarding experiences in STEM and nurture a life-long love of exploration, creativity, and academic achievement.

**Job purpose**

Reporting to the Executive Director, SuperNOVA, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the development, delivery, and oversight of Melkiknuawti, SuperNOVA’s Land-Based Education program. The Program Coordinator will liaise with program partners, parents/guardians, Dalhousie University, teachers and community leaders to develop networks for program delivery and dissemination, as well as overseeing the creation of curriculum content and delivery.

**Duties and responsibilities**

**Program Administration and Delivery**
- Execute and manage SuperNOVA’s Land-Based Education programming.
- Organize programs prioritizing participant safety and adhering to Dalhousie, Provincial and National guidelines for childcare.
- Oversee the organization, logistics and delivery of SuperNOVA’s Land-based Education program, Melkiknuawti.
- Work with community partners to arrange programming logistics, including procuring space and registering participants.
- Support the planning, logistics and delivery of program Community Forums.
- Participate in travel associated with program delivery, site visits and community meetings.
- Work with the Executive Director, Assistant Director and Partnership and Development Coordinator to build and maintain partnerships with community and youth organizations for program collaboration.
- Oversee Melkiknuawti STEM programming.
- Work with teachers and education representatives to organize in-school programming.
- Aid in hiring and onboarding of student instructor staff to deliver programs, if necessary.
- Work with the Executive Director to create program budgets and perform minor budgetary tracking.
- Keep records of expenditures made and file appropriate paperwork in a timely manner.
- Aid in the development of grant proposals in consultation with the Executive Director.
- Oversee student instructors to deliver programs, including summer camp delivery.
- **Documentation**:

- Keep regular records of participant attendance.
- Keep digital records through the portal and Google Drive of all curriculum and meeting outlines (topics covered, mentors present, etc.).
- Ensure that high-quality photos are taken and submitted immediately after each meeting. All photo consent forms must be signed and collected

- Aid in organizing registration and participant data for programs, ensuring all participants have the correct paperwork and waivers.
- **Communications**:

- Promptly and appropriately reply to all related inquiries.
- Ensure that all programs are promoted appropriately in consultation with SuperNOVA’s Communications team.
- **Mentors and Volunteers**:

- Liaise with mentors and volunteers to determine their needs for each meeting and to ensure they are fully prepared.
- Ensure that the mentors and volunteers has been given all the pre-meeting materials, including media consent form, and that these materials are collected.
- Keep an updated log of contact information for each mentor or volunteer engaged.

**Curriculum Planning and Execution**
- Support the development of land-based education curriculum based on the guiding principles of Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing) and Netukulimk, working to integrate locally relevant cultural connections and knowledge.
- Curriculum development will involve research, testing, and writing documentation related to curriculum. Where necessary, reference provincial curriculum, and NS Treaty Education Framework
- Provide support to office staff, including packing bins, organizing inventory, and helping to keep camp materials organized and accessible.
- Oversee instructors during planning and packing phases.
- Aid in the procurement of materials.

**General Responsibilities**
- Act as a program instructor where necessary.
- Aid in the management of summer camp programs, including oversight of student instructor staff and oceans content development, materials acquisition and liaise with parents and stakeholders.
- Assist with the development and delivery of staff training.
- Adhere to SuperNOVA’s policies and procedures at all times.
- Learn and prepare for the delivery of all programs and activities prior to delivery.
