Calgary, Canada Neo Financial Full time

**_Come Build a Better Financial Future for all Canadians_**

At Neo, we’re building a more rewarding financial experience for all Canadians.

Life at a rapidly expanding tech startup is demanding, exhilarating, and not for everyone.

From world-class creative minds to brilliant engineers, it's high-performing people that make Neo a workplace with passion and purpose.

Since being founded in 2019, Neo has built incredible traction and is one of the fastest growing fintechs in Canada.
- LinkedIn’s Top Startup in Canada for 2022 and 2023, and the #1 fastest growing company in Canada by the Globe and Mail in 2024, check out the article here.
- Top-ranked mobile apps and credit cards
- Canada’s top-rated credit card
- Team of 700+ people
- 1M+ customers in 3 years
- 11K+ retail partners

**The Role**

We’re looking to add a proven Chief Information Officer (CIO) to our leadership team at Neo. The CIO will play a crucial role in aligning technology with business goals to manage risk and improve enterprise efficiency.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Oversee and build up foundational technology teams at Neo including:
Data, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and Corporate Technology (IT).
- Lead a group of leaders; hire, coach and manage with a focus on teamwork, ownership, professionalism, and creating a high-performance culture.
- Be strategic; think about how to create value, or how Neo will be competitive, rather than just running day-to-day teams or doing what other companies do.
- Improve team focus through disciplined prioritization, proactive roadmapping, and project management excellence.
- Take ownership over IT across all departments, standardizing our approach to IT implementations, managing IT devices, deploying off-the-shelf software, or SaaS.
- Ensure data is managed with integrity and good governance at Neo: adding value to the enterprise, while also safeguarding storage and keeping access to an as-needed basis.
- Play the role of de-facto Chief Security Officer, executing an information security strategy or framework to help Neo maintain the highest possible standards of security.
- Lead our cloud infrastructure team to reduce operational costs while enhancing performance, availability, uptime, and DevOps capabilities.
- Execute a vendor management program to ensure selection of vendors is lean, process driven, mature, proactive, cost-effective and consistent.
- Learn our business; be able to dig into processes (especially within operations-heavy teams) to develop strategies for better technology and efficiency.
- Plan and lead major digital transformation initiatives, such as future implementation of an enterprise-wide ERP or CRM.
- In tandem with our strong compliance team, ensure compliance with regulations and successfully navigate compliance audits as needed.
- Work directly with founders including our CTO and COO to grow and transform our business for the better.

**Who we are looking for**:

- 10+ years of experience on technology teams, including 3+ years experience in a similar leadership role (CTO, CIO, VP, etc).
- Both tactically and strategically minded. You should be able to operate in the weeds in a scrappy startup environment, but also be the leader with the ability to build strategy, roadmaps, systems and frameworks.
- Exposure to substantial and significant scale within a fast-paced, fast-growing company.
- Proven excellent communications, leadership, and management skills.
- Fluency across cybersecurity, corporate IT and data with emphasis on enablement, efficiency and bottom-line cost management.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change and manage teams or projects to ensure delivery of quality results, on-time, and on-budget.
- Confidence recruiting, interviewing, and hiring teams quickly, while also managing team and individual performance to get results.
- Ability to understand financial information, analyze spend or manage budgets.
- Must be highly organized, and able to organize through speed, complexity and chaos.
- Experience in a regulated industry dealing with regulatory compliance and handling sensitive and private data preferred (banking, finance, equities, medicine, etc).

**What will help you succeed**:

- Adaptable, high-achiever energized by moving fast in a startup environment.
- Team player who loves working in groups and being part of a leadership ecosystem.
- Entrepreneurial spirit; seeking environments where betting on yourself yields rewards.
- Highly analytical, operationally oriented; know how to be data and metrics driven.
- Maker with a drive to finish projects off, and ship actual best-in-world results.
- Pragmatic perfectionist with a belief that ‘it can always be better'.
- A passion and obsession with startups and technology.
