The Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce works together to build good business and a great community for all. For 160 years, The Chamber has led the way in historic improvements in our region. We've played a role in supporting everything from the serious - building The Empress, ferry service to the island, UVic, the airport - to the fun and fabulous Flower Count. Today, with nearly 1,400 members, the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce is one of the largest chambers in the province. The Events Specialist is responsible for planning and executing events that engage, educate, and connect our members. Experienced in planning and executing the logistics, marketing, and guest experience for events, this position works as a lead for a variety of our events with the support of the Events & Administration Assistant. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Corporate Strategy and provides administrative support to the management team. We have a tight knit team that works collaboratively to support our members and each other. **Key Responsibilities**
- Lead the planning for a variety of events including our Business Leaders Series, Member Networking Breakfasts, Business Awards Ceremony, Educational Webinars & Seminars and more
- Lead the execution of event logistics including, developing event schedules and speaking notes, determining room layouts/floorplan; and identifying audiovisual and other equipment needs
- Work within the outlined events budget tracking expenses and revenue
- Develop strategies to meet or exceed event attendance and revenue goals
- Use the customer relationship management software (CRM) to manage guest information,
- remediate data, track KPIs, administer event changes, and prepare reports
- Develop the weekly Chamber Events e-newsletter and work with the marketing team to
- promote events across social media channels
- Book high-level, quality speakers
- Communicate with our members, sponsors, and vendors in a professional and cheerful manner
- Direct the team on events days, including final prep, setup/tear down, check-in, photography
- and post-event wrap-up
- Provide logístical and communication support to all events
- Identify members and potential members to engage in our events through targeted messaging
- Work with our team to identify opportunities to move towards our vision of being the most
- diverse and influential business association in the region, encouraging newcomers and indigenous involvement

**Key Skills**
- Diploma or Degree in Events Management, Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent
- 2-3 years of events experience preferred, or equivalent
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Planner)
- Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite is an asset
- Experience working with database or customer relation management software (CRM)
- Ability to multi-task on multiple projects and prioritize efficiently to meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of office processes and equipment (commercial printer, business phone
- systems, postage meter, paper folder)
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills
- Task-orientated, with excellent time management skills
- Flexible, efficient, and willing to learn new skills
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and attend various events within and outside of standard work hours

- Friday Flex: 8:00-4:30 Monday to Thursday, 8:00-2:00 Friday
