The Ministry of Education has an exciting opportunity and is looking for a Field Services Manager to join our team

Field Services Manager
- Central Services Branch:
Reporting to the Branch Director, Central Services Branch, the Field Services Manager supports the Ministry and several Kindergarten to Grade 12 school authorities, including independent (private) schools, across a broad geographic area in the central part of the province. Additionally, Central Services Branch leads the sector in Charter Schools and Home Education.

All Field Service Managers perform the following roles and responsibilities:

- Contribute significantly to the department's mandate to provide standards and program implementation direction and supports to First Nations and provincial education authorities.
- Oversee and monitor approximately 10 to 15 school authorities and independent (private) schools within a broad geographic area of the province grounded by government and ministry legislation, regulations, policies, directives and procedures to ensure their effective management and operations so that students succeed in learning. - Lead the annual evaluation and approval of public, separate, charter, and independent (private) school authority Education Plans and Annual Education Results Reports.
- Lead the review of annual independent (private) school operating plans as per the Private Schools Regulation.
- Ensure provincial school authority compliance and accountability when issues arise, including requiring a school authority to develop an improvement plan and holding the school authority accountable for compliance.
- Gather, synthesize and share system intelligence to keep senior department officials and the Minister apprised of current and emerging opportunities and issues in the field. The department and Minister rely on this position to have significant and in
- depth knowledge of school authorities.
- On occasion, the Field Services Manager can be called upon to assume the superintendent role within a school authority on a temporary basis.
- Develop and maintain relationships based on trust, integrity, and a shared understanding of the operations of the school system.

**Qualifications**:

- University graduation in a field related to the position assignment (Education etc.), supplemented by three years related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis
- An Alberta Permanent Professional Teaching certificate is required.

**Assets**:

- Master’s Degree is an asset.
- Four years of progressively responsible leadership experience at the school, school authority/or provincial level desirable (e.g. experience leading curriculum initiatives, student support services, administrative leadership at the school/division level).
- Comprehensive knowledge of government strategic priorities, policy directions, and ministry business plan goals.
- Knowledge of overall operations of the Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system.
- Knowledge of MS Officer Products primarily MS Word and Excel.
- Experience in First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit education.
- Facilitation, mediation and consensus building skills in complex and conflicting circumstances involving multiple people or organizations.
