Circular Innovation Council is a national, not for profit organization committed to pioneering circular economy solutions that address environmental challenges. We are embarking on an innovative pilot program focused in Ottawa, aiming to scale, convenient and affordable reusable container use in the food sector service to reduce plastic waste. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a Program Manager to manage local pilot implementation including by not limited to supporting local operations including recruitment and onboarding of food related businesses.

A B O U T T H E R E U S E P I L O T P R O G R A M

Circular Innovation Council is leading and managing the delivery of a food container reuse pilot program in Ottawa, Ontario. This two-year pilot is co-funded by participating retailers (Walmart Canada, Sobeys, and Metro) with support from
Environment and Climate Change Canada and the City of Ottawa. This will be the largest and first of its kind collaborative reuse program in Canada. The objective of this pilot program is to trial a unique reusable container program between multi
- participants (a variety of food service businesses). The pilot will be place based, focused initially on a specific ‘catchment area’ in Ottawa. This unique market test is based on a shared pool reuse model designed by consortium of a diverse group of participants that share standardized reusable containers between, and amongst, other food related establishments in the region. Participants will work collaboratively and share the containers, sanitation and transportation logistics and associated costs. The test will inform the feasibility of a permanent and expanded reuse program and a showcase for other cities and communities.
Environmental, economic, and social gains will be tracked and reported throughout the pilot and made available to its partners and other interested stakeholders. continued
