**Part Time Program and Volunteer Coordinator**

The coordinator reports directly to the Chaplain on their responsibilities which shall be to:
a) Coordinate the planning and daily operations of most Connection programs and

initiatives. Work closely with community leaders and set up committees, as needed, to

help facilitate Connection programs.

b) Develop, initiate and maintain programs that respond to the needs of the community and

facilitate discussion of programs and initiatives requested by community members to

maximize the use of the available space and attract participants from the neighbourhood.

c) Recruit, train and support volunteers for existing and new programs, providing advice,

recommendations and guidance to the Chaplain and the Board around volunteer

recruitment, training and recognition.

d) Set up pilot projects for evaluation by the Program Committee or Board as required.

e) Organize events such as Open Houses, community meals, volunteer recognition and

additional social or arts-based special events.

f) Research grants of funding organizations that will meet the needs of the Connection and

g) Develop and maintain partnerships with other service providers and funding

organizations in collaboration with the Chaplain to support programs and events that

involve the wider community.

h) Support the strategic development of the organization.

*Flexible 4-5 hours 3 days per week between 9 A.M. and 3 p.m. except for Saturdays, which has mandatory hours between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. during the program period, which is 47 weeks per year. There is a week off between Christmas and New Year, two weeks in the summer, and a further flexible two weeks.

**Requirements**:

- College diploma or bachelor’s degree or current enrolment in a program in social

sciences, mental health science, arts or recreation, or relevant experience
- Understanding of issues related to people living in social housing and poverty
- Be comfortable with people experiencing crisis
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Computer skills expected.
- Police check

**Assets**
- Knowledge of second language (i.e.: French, Arabic)
- Volunteer coordination experience
- Arts background
- Counselling experience
- Experience working with volunteers
- First Aid and CPR certification

**Job Types**: Part-time, Contract

**Salary**: From $21.00 per hour
