Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Risk Analytics, the Data Analyst will play a key role in automation, data storytelling, and advanced analytics for the Enterprise Risk Management team.
**Responsibilities**:
- Perform detailed analysis of insurance portfolio and economic data using data visualization tools and data analysis software to assist with the identification of potential insurance and economic risks.
- Contribute to the development of analytic solutions supporting insight generation aligned to departmental strategy.
- Supporting the Director, Risk Analytics, participate in cross-functional initiatives to build and visualize data insights and automate dashboards for business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with IT data engineering to develop data pipelines and workflows within data governance guidelines.
- Streamline and automate tactical work such as regulatory reporting, risk review updates and economic data updates.
- Leveraging internal and external sources, identify and obtain structured and unstructured economic and market data to prepare data sets for advanced analytical and data science methods through integration, cleaning, feature engineering, scaling and transformation of data.
- Support the Risk Analytics team with ad-hoc analysis, reporting and presentations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Economics, Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial, Mathematics).
- 2 to 3 years (including co-op work terms), of progressive experience in a business information/data analytics role.
- Proficiency and/or experience in SQL and BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI and familiarity with AI and machine learning techniques.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and data integrity.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with mínimal guidance. Takes the initiative for self-directed learning and development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling the incumbent to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive work environment by actively participating in team discussions, supporting team members, and sharing knowledge and expertise.
