**About Us**:
The Maintenance Enforcement and Victim Services Division of the Department of Justice is responsible for providing support to victims of crime, including their families and children, including assistance with benefits owed to them through a maintenance support order and ensuring that there is improved access to these critical programs for vulnerable groups who need them.

We offer a range of services to help victims of crime, promote victims’ rights and interests and advise government on issues relating to victims of crime; and work with justice partners and the community to develop policies and programs that address the needs of crime victims. We can help provide the victim, spouse, or relative with information, support and assistance as their case moves through the criminal justice system. When criminal charges are laid, victims and family members can contact us directly for help. We provide the following programs: Provincial Victim Services Program, Child Victim/Witness Program, Criminal Injuries Counselling Program, Victim Impact Statement Program, Restitution Program, and the Sexual Offense Legal Representation Program.

**About Our Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Director of Victim Services, the Manager of Special Initiatives for Victims is accountable for developing and implementing special initiatives for victims of crime, including developing, implementing, assessing and evaluating individual policies, programs, procedures and systems.

The Manager is responsible to develop and implement legislative and special policy and program initiatives which support government, departmental priorities and objectives in relation to victims of crime through the development, leadership and management of project teams; analysis of current research and theoretical perspectives in victimology, new initiatives, protocols and court decisions.

They will manage special program initiatives for victims of crime within the Department of Justice through the development of strategies, policies and procedures.

They will manage funding programs within the Department of Justice for the provision of services to victims of crime to ensure funded agencies operate within the Departmental guidelines as defined by funding agreements, including the administration of effective fiscal management; monitoring of submitted reports; record keeping, monitoring and evaluation systems.

The Manager will provide competent, confidential and timely advice to the Minister and Deputy Minister of Justice and leadership, and expertise to the Department of Justice and acts as the representative of the Department, and the Province as required, on issues related to special initiatives for victims of crime, for example gender based violence and violence against women.

Manage province-wide response to Intimate Partner Violence in collaboration with the Domestic Violence Initiatives Unit, including training and education for, and consultation with, community and justice partners through leadership on the Departmental/Public Prosecution Service Working Group.

Manage province-wide response to sexual violence, including oversight of the Independent Legal Advice Program through maintaining funding agreements, administering effective fiscal management, monitoring of submitted reports, record keeping, monitoring and evaluation systems. training and education for, and consultation with, community and justice partners.\

Manage provide-wide Restitution program, including maintaining funding agreements, administering effective fiscal management, monitoring of submitted reports, record keeping, monitoring and evaluation systems.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
A post-secondary degree in a related discipline (e.g. Education, Social Work) with demonstrated related management experience; an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Work experience in the field of domestic violence is required.

Graduate degrees such as M.A.Ed, M.S.W; computer experience working with software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook would be considered assets, along with supervisory experience with programs and staff.
