Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child and Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Must qualify for an appointment as a Staff Justice of the Peace pursuant to statutory requirements
- Must be able to work overtime when required with little notice
- Must be able to be in an on-call rotational schedule for evenings and weekends
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts between the hours of 7:30 am - 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Experience managing staff resourcing including performance and attendance management, learning plans, training, assessing and assigning workload
- Excellent organizational and time management skills including the ability to handle multiple tasks in pressure situations in strict deadlines
- Ability to work with a high level of accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to a variety of stakeholders
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders such as the legal profession, law enforcement agencies, self-represented litigants and the public
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to deal effectively in a team environment
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment
- Experience with change management
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)

**Desired**:

- Experience in developing operational policies and procedures
- Experience with the Criminal Justice system, such as interpreting the Criminal Code, federal and provincial statutes, and related policies and procedures of the Provincial Court

**Duties**:
The Managers of the Winnipeg Staff Justices of the Peace are members of the Judicial Services team and are responsible for the administration, management and day-to-day operation of the Winnipeg Staff Justice of the Peace program area. This includes identifying issues, troubleshooting and recommending solutions; assisting in the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures; working on committees as assigned; assisting with the maintenance of search warrant records; establishing goals and objectives; distributing materials to all staff justices of the peace including legislation, policy, procedures and judicial directives and overseeing staffing, training and recruitment for the program area.
