**Description**: Reporting to the Director of Asset Management, this position is responsible for the overall leadership and day to day support of the purchasing department. This role will provide the strategic and tactical direction to the purchasing team in alignment with the Thompson Construction Group strategic priorities. This role will be based out of our Spruce Grove office.

**Responsibilities**:

- Foster a culture of collaboration between departments
- Continually review pricing, distribution, competitive action and policies to drive solutions with the best value
- Responsible for reviewing the monthly metrics related to People, Quality, Velocity
- Assist in creating annual budget, monthly reporting & forecasting
- Demonstrate awareness and a commitment to factors that influence personal safety and the safety of others
- Ensure full compliance on safety practices, procedures & policies, training & audits
- Develop and implement strategies that align with targets
- Provide quality, timely feedback to individuals through formal and informal conversations to support the performance management process
- Support peak parts ordering volumes by looking up requested parts, determine availability and provide parts to mechanics
- Daily ordering of shop supplies and inventory replenishment in alignment with turns targets
- Ensure that parts warehouse inventory accuracy
- Ensure all parts, commodities and shop supplies are kept at required levels
- Maintain and grow vendor relationships

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role of a Parts Department operations
- Previous experience working with CAT, John Deere, Hitachi and Komatsu required
- Previous experience with Heavy Truck and Trailer is considered an asset
- Familiar with electronic online ordering and parts lookup
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, and multi‐tasking abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Business acumen and understanding of financial fundamentals
- Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
