As an affiliate of the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), the Louis Riel Institute (LRI) is responsible to the Métis people of Manitoba to provide programs, resources and services related to education and culture.

The Louis Riel Institute seeks to fill **one Full-time Summer Term Talking Dictionary Project **Assistant position located in Winnipeg, MB.

**Talking Dictionary Project Assistant**
- **Job Duties/Competencies**:_
- Attend meetings, events and participate in training as required
- Assist in continuing the development of the Michif Talking Dictionary as assigned by Computational Linguist
- Assist in the resolution of any current or potential errors to ensure the success of the Michif Talking Dictionary as assigned by Computational Linguist
- Continue the processing work necessary for correctly matching audio recordings to the adapted written text as assigned by Computational Linguist
- Continue the processing work necessary to ensure the overall viability of the Michif Talking Dictionary including and not limited to its search engine function, its audio playing feature, the decided upon categorization of words/phrases, as well as any additional tasks assigned by the Computational Linguist.
- Willing to use Michif language in activities (particularly the Southern Michif variation)
- Assist in delivering activities, workshops and events to community
- Attend Métis cultural events and other Métis gatherings as required
- **Skills and Qualifications**:_
- Highschool diploma required, or continuing University/College Education
- Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines while multitasking
- Be prepared for physical labor as part of workshops and camps, including canoeing, hiking, etc
- Comfortable working both collaboratively and independently
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal
- Experience working in a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community an asset
- Knowledge of Métis culture, LRI programs and services is a definite asset
- General knowledge of MMF programs, services, and governance
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle

LRI requires a satisfactory criminal record check prior to commencement of employment. LRI will accept existing criminal record checks if dated within 3 months of your start date. Obtaining this document is not a guarantee of employment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal

**Salary**: $16.28-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Winnipeg, MB R3B 0J7
