**Responsibilities**:
THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) sets international Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) for aviation safety, air navigation, security and environmental protection. To that effect, ICAO is a knowledge-based organization engaged in the development of intellectual property. The Revenue and Product Management (RPM) Section is part of the Technical Cooperation Bureau (TCB) and is focused on revenue-generating activities of the Organization. The portfolio of revenue-generating activities includes publications, periodicals, databases, websites, training, printing and events. The revenues generated by these activities are required to promote the implementation of ICAO’s Strategic Objectives and to carry out related Programme Support. The Section is responsible for the overall strategic planning, stakeholders’ collaboration, coordination, promotion, and distribution of these sellable products in close coordination with the other Bureaux/Offices of the Organization.

The Business Development Unit (BDU) within RPM is responsible for identifying and implementing revenue-generating opportunities in ICAO, such as events. The Air Navigation Bureau (ANB) manages the Safety and Air Navigation Capacity and Efficiency strategies of ICAO in a partnership with aviation stakeholders. This work is carried out within a framework with the following elements: Policy and Standardization, Safety and Infrastructure Monitoring, Safety and Infrastructure Analysis, and Safety and Infrastructure Implementation. ANB also leads ICAO’s efforts related to crises and contingencies.

Under the guidance of the Head of BDU and the Chief, Operational Safety in ANB, the Air Navigation World Event Programme Specialist will coordinate and deliver the full agenda for the first Air Navigation World Symposium, which will take place the week of 29 August 2023.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Function 1 (incl. expected results)
- Work in coordination with ANB and TCB to propose and select the event’s theme and main topics;
- Agree with the event team focal points on the unfolding of the symposium and individual sessions;
- Ensure the programme is in line with best practices;
- Respect confidentiality and ICAO intellectual property.

Function 2 (incl. expected results)

Develop the content and delivers the event programme, achieving results such as:

- Create an ongoing vision for the Air Navigation World Symposium;
- Collaborate with technical, revenue-generation, and industry focal points for programme content;
- Recommend or collaborate identifying panellists and moderators, and facilitate introductions with the event focal points;
- Consider the importance of innovation when developing the programme and panels;
- Comply with ICAO event operation standards when formulating the programme;
- Leverage work experience and contacts to improve the programme content;
- Consider a gender and geographically balanced programme when forming panels.

Function 3 (incl. expected results)

Assist in business development for the event, achieving results such as:

- Create a programme of interest to potential exhibitors and sponsors;
- Assist in generating leads for RPM;
- Recommend contacts that would be interested in attending or sponsoring the event;
- Work with sales and marketing teams on the deployment strategies of campaigns.

Function 4 (incl. expected results)

Create a post-event report, achieving results such as:

- Participate in the creation of a post-mortem in collaboration with all event focal points;
- Identify and report strengths and weaknesses of the event (share information);
- Make recommendations for improvement.

Function 5 (incl. expected results)

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills

Education:
A first-level university degree is required.

Professional experience and knowledge:
Essential:

- Experience in organizing large-scale aviation related events;
- Experience coordinating with moderators, panellists or speakers;
- Experience coordinating with exhibitors, sponsors, and sales and marketing teams;
- Experience developing event programmes and post-event reports;
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint;
- Ability to transfer knowledge to a variety of specialized aviation audiences.

Desirable:

- Experience in an aviation operational discipline;
- Proven expertise in developing specialized air navigation or safety event programmes internationally;
- Related experience within an international organization or a government.

Languages
Essential
Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English.

Desirable
A working knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
