Position Information

**Position Title**
- Associate Dean - Continuing Education and Corporate Training**Position Summary**
- Are you passionate about education, innovation, and professional development? We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as the Associate Dean for Continuing Education and Corporate Training (CECT) at Red Deer Polytechnic, Downtown Campus.
- In this role, you will oversee non-credit product research, program analysis and review, quality control, non-credit program development, and delivery while leading an innovative group of Coordinators. As a member of the CECT Leadership team, the Associate Dean plays a crucial role in developing and achieving key strategic and financial targets while enabling an institutional culture of lifelong learning.- **Position Responsibilities**

**Non-Credit Academic Leadership**
- Provides leadership in the development of new non-credit programs following the current and future trends in adult education and lifelong learning
- Supports academic excellence in the development, delivery, assessment and review of non-credit programs in the learning-centered environment
- Establishes instructor standards as well as orientation and training requirements for non-credit programming when needed
- Manages projects related to new and reimagined non-credit programming directions and opportunities
- Facilitates the approval of curriculum in compliance with the applicable policy (credit or non-credit) and ensures design of laddering and stacking to credit programs where appropriate
- Promotes progressive learner-centered delivery models in the development and revision of non-credit curriculum
- Fosters broad relationships and partnerships to facilitate creative & strong academic programming

**Teaching Excellence within a Learner Centered Environment**
- Within Continuing Education and Corporate Training (CECT) provides collaborative leadership, guidance, and support to initiatives in support of students in a learner-centred environment
- Leads the culture and brand of CECT for signature student experience and a strong record of student success, either in endpoint learning or in learning pathways
- Ensures alignment of and compliance with policies and procedures and any regulatory body where applicable that contribute to and support a strong culture of teaching excellence and academic integrity in the learning environment
- Provides leadership and support to the programming staff in the integration of appropriate technology in the teaching and learning environment
- Ensures responsible and effective use of resources to support staff development and excellence in the teaching and learning environment

**Personnel Management**
- Demonstrates leadership within CECT for continuous improvement, innovation, industry relevance in programming and strong customer first or student-centric operations
- Responsible for recruitment and selection, retention, training, supervision, performance reviews, and where necessary discipline and dismissal of reporting staff (in consultation with the Dean and People and Culture)
- Provides ongoing coaching and support for staff in accordance with the performance enhancement program

**Continuing Education Innovation**
- Facilitates the growth and development of programming and micro-credentials in support of continuous innovation for our region and the economic, social and cultural growth of our communities
- Facilitates the exploration, development and growth of work-integrated learning into the course and program level
- Facilitates the development of micro-credentials, and alternative delivery models through various means to internal and external audiences in both credit and non-credit courses/programs
- Fosters growth and development in an environment of open inquiry, creativity and innovation
- Facilitates a structure and process for laddering and stacking micro-credentials into traditional certificates, diplomas and degree programs
- Facilitates the generation of resources (funds, facilities, equipment, partnerships, etc.) to support engagement of staff and students in developing alternative pathways for new and reimagined programs
- Facilitates members’ sharing of their innovative and alternative program activity through staff presentations within CECT, broadly to the Polytechnic community and externally, where appropriate
- Works to effectively resolve issues related to learner success

**Financial Management**
- Sets annual financial targets in collaboration with the CECT Leadership Team
- Ensures that programming complies with financial formulas outlined in the Non-credit Programming policy, where applicable
- Monitors budget and targets and adjusts staffing based on revenues
- Effectively allocates resources within established budgets and monitors for effectiveness including managing overtime and vacation use
- Analyzes budgets and makes in-year adjustments as required to achieve expected outcomes
