**Indigenous Experiential Learning Coordinator**:
Career Services empowers students to achieve career success by leading, guiding, and partnering to advance career education at the University of Saskatchewan. Working in partnership with employers, our community and our USask colleagues; we facilitate students' access to opportunities, creation of connections, and preparation for and management of their careers. We also play a key role in supporting students in developing competencies (knowledges, skills, attributes) within their academic programs, and through experiential and work integrated learning opportunities.

**Primary Purpose**: The primary purpose of this position is to provide effective leadership and oversight of Indigenous Student Internship Program (ISIP), and coordinate the related employer and community engagement, career education, and campus outreach activities that actively promote and support Indigenous grounded and inclusive experiential learning practices. Additionally, the incumbent will contribute to advancing skill development through experiential learning institutionally by exploring the needs of employers and Indigenous students as well as units, departments, and groups; and developing and contributing to initiatives in all areas of Career Services, specifically those that advance Indigenous students’ career success.

This position is unique at the University of Saskatchewan in that the incumbent will have a professional home within Career Services and is directly connected to an exciting opportunity that the university is undertaking, known as the **Oyateki Partnership**. The Oyateki Partnership aspires to lead and facilitate transformation to change the lives of Indigenous youth for the better. This collaborative body is comprised of representatives from USask, Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI) and Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT). According, this position will respond to the needs of USask Indigenous students by working closely with the **Office of the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement (OVPIE),** and in collaboration with the Kahkisiw Community of Practice, other USask staff across various portfolios, and Oyateki Project partners. Additionally, this role will contribute to empowering Indigenous USask students, increasing self-efficacy, and improving systems access and navigation in post-secondary education.

This position dually reports to the Manager, Career Services and the Senior Strategic Officer, Office of the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement and has no direct reports.

**Nature of Work**: The Indigenous Experiential Learning Coordinator advances the Indigenous Student Internship Program (ISIP) by collaborating with employer and community partners to create meaningful and rewarding paid internship opportunities for Indigenous students, specifically those participating in Career Services’ Indigenous Student Employment Readiness Program (ISERP). The incumbent will also focus on ensuring Career Services advances Indigenous grounded and inclusive resources, practices and programming that support skill development through experiential learning, particularly the unique experiential learning needs of our Indigenous students.

**Accountabilities**:
Indigenous Grounded and Inclusive Experiential Learning
- Works closely with Career Services’ colleagues to lead the development, implementation, evaluation and management of the Indigenous Student Internship Program (ISIP) ensuring:

- High quality and meaningful internship opportunities that inclusively onboard and support our Indigenous students.
- Indigenous students’ interests and needs are identified, and the necessary programming and supports are developed and implemented where appropriate.
- Employer and community partners are prepared and equipped to inclusively onboard and support our Indigenous students, and educated on Indigenous knowledge, principles and practices.
- Best and ethical practices for experiential learning are adhered to paying particular attention to the unique, Indigenous grounded context.
- Leads the innovation and expansion of Indigenous grounded and inclusive partnerships, resources and initiatives that align with Career Services’ high-level outcomes, values, and strategic direction.
- Contributes to conversations and initiatives to create and foster an institutional culture that values, supports, and promotes skill development through experiential learning.

Community, Stakeholder, and Institutional Collaboration
- Develops a strong practical and theoretical knowledge of Indigenous grounded and inclusive experiential learning through research and collaborative conversations with key Indigenous stakeholders and communities, sharing expertise within Career Services and across the institution.
