**Educational Development Specialist - Indigenous Education Initiatives**:
The Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning (GMCTL) provides professional development opportunities for departments, colleges, instructors, and graduate students in teaching and professional skills, offers curriculum development and instructional design support for academic programs and courses, works to create an environment that enables good teaching and learning practices, and supports cross institutional initiatives in decolonization, Indigenization and internationalization.

**Primary Purpose**: The Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning (GMCTL) provides professional and educational development opportunities about teaching, curriculum and assessment for departments, colleges, instructors, and graduate students. The Educational Development Specialist - Indigenous Education Initiatives, plans, develops and provides educational development services for our campuses. The GMCTL is committed to actualizing the University of Saskatchewan Indigenous Strategy ohpahotân | oohpaahotaan. A primary focus of the position will work to advance (re)conciliation through decolonization and Indigenous-informed teaching practices.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:

- Contributes to building relationship and engaging with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous and non-Indigenous faculty and scholars, teachers, staff, students, and First Nations and Métis communities and organizations.
- Facilitates professional development in Indigenous education initiatives that align with institutional strategies and related efforts and initiatives across campus.
- Applies knowledge of, and experience with, Indigenization, (re)conciliation and decolonization to programming, work with partners, and support for faculty and staff.
- Ensures that the Indigenous engagement and education work undertaken by GMCTL demonstrably meets its objectives.
- Actively engage in professional development and reflection with the goal of continuous improvement and adaptation to emerging needs.
- Share in the construction and distribution of resources that present authentic Indigenous voice, depict themes and issues important to (re)conciliation and Indigenous teaching and learning.
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the GMCTL when necessary.

**Education**: Graduate degree required in related fields or equivalent experience

**Skills**:

- Demonstrated ability to work with and facilitate the learning of professional and administrative staff within a safe and nurturing environment.
- Ability to collaborate on programming with proven vision and initiative grounded in Indigenous epistemologies.
- Ability to work comfortably with faculty members and academic staff on academic goals and priorities.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and a high level of optimism, energy, and empathy
- Demonstrated intercultural competence.
- Ease and comfort working with a wide array of people including Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community members, faculty, academic administrators, administrative staff, program staff, and students; knowledge of how to support programs that foster engagement and build support.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work within a team and take the lead on projects.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High levels of energy and empathy
