The Service Assistant will be primarily responsible for safely and efficiently operating equipment, keeping units organized in the service yard, handling the movement and organization of all service jobs entering the shop, and assisting both parts and service on the frontend counter. Daily work is to be executed closely with the Operations, Service, and Parts Managers to help keep Gibbons Motor Toys’ business running smoothly by maintaining high productivity and staying on schedule. This position requires an individual skilled at operating equipment in tight spaces, who has a high level of ownership, accountability, and initiative.

Key responsibilities include unloading parts shipments as well as maximizing technician productivity by maintaining meticulous organization of the service yard and shop to easily move work into and out of the shop. The Service Assistant will be personable and will maintain professional interactions with customers and vendors, operate equipment including forklift and tractor, meet daily work schedules, and handle all paperwork accurately & efficiently. This position provides strong support to the Parts and Service Departments wherever needed to help them achieve their targets and objectives. Throughout their work the Service Assistant should be able to provide management with insights to further increase productivity**.**

Key Responsibilities

**Service & Parts Department Support**
- Skillfully operate forklift and tractor for all shipping / receiving and service work lineup needs
- Unload / load all incoming and outgoing parts shipments
- Coordinate with front-end Service Team to manage all units in shop and service yard
- Maintain order and organization when towing and parking trailers and other units
- Assist in maximizing technician productivity and service efficiency through systematic lineup of all service jobs
- Further maximize technician performance and quality of work by maintaining an orderly shop through daily shop cleanup and recognizing and limiting safety hazards and inefficiencies
- Take pictures as directed to accurately record condition of unit when coming in for service
- Prepare units for service by draining water/removing snow from boat covers, ATV’s, and SSV’s
- Assist in covering Parts & Service counter when required, including processing counter sales, answering telephone calls, and helping customers
- Accurately document information on work orders and in software systems

**Customer Service and Sales Department Support**
- Provide support to New Unit Inventory Manager in unloading all incoming major units
- Assist in snow removal when required
- Provide backup for detailing units when required
- Assist with other building maintenance when required
- Create a solid first impression and commitment to GMT’s superior customer service by acknowledging all customers in a prompt and professional manner
- Interact with customers in loading / unloading and hooking up units, seeking upselling potential
- Address all customer's needs promptly and professionally while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude and handling difficult situations calmly and with confidence

- Aware of surroundings to avoid potential hazards or dangerous situations
- Effectively assist with implementing and supporting improvements to parts & service processes

**Work Schedule**
- Must be available Monday to Saturday, 40 to 45 hours per week
- Must display reliable attendance and schedule time-off with advance notice

**Educational and experience requirements include**:

- Relevant experience and/or strong understanding of yard and shop operations
- Proven experience in parking trailers and operating forklifts
- Prior experience in shipping / receiving, shop operations, or a similar role considered an asset
