**Our Organization**: Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit volunteer based agency that has been dedicated to providing nutritious affordable meals and reducing isolation for seniors and adults with disabilities in Ottawa for over 50 years. Home delivered hot and frozen meals, daily check-ins, and comfort with a smile is available on both a short-term and long-term basis to seniors, as well as adults who are chronically ill, living with a disability, convalescing from surgery or illness or who are undergoing medical treatment

**Our team**: Meals on Wheels/La Popote roulante (Ottawa) is a bilingual organization with a small dedicated staff. Along with our Board of Directors and over 250 delivery volunteers, we are committed to helping our clients remain healthy and independent at home.

**Position Summary**: Reporting to the Manager of Volunteer Services, the Community Outreach Coordinator’s role is to assist in the development, execution, and support of outreach initiatives that build and strengthen MOW’s relationships with stakeholders with a particular focus on the recruitment of potential volunteers.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Engage in volunteer recruitment activities including onboarding and training
- Assist the volunteer department to maintain communications, scheduling and reporting through our volunteer database software
- Assist the volunteer department to promote volunteer opportunities and implement retention strategies such as volunteer recognition
- Support the staff by assembling and delivering presentation materials, proposals, and other forms of communications
- Source presentation opportunities in the community
- Develop materials and content library (blog posts, images, testimonials, articles)
- Increase communication with referral sources who have access to potential client base to ensure MOW is reaching community members who can benefit from our service
- Create an organized approach to regularly reach new potential client and volunteer referrals
- Maintain a calendar of outreach activities including community events, presentations, and other communication opportunities
- Prepare and maintain all necessary documentation and statistics related to responsibilities and duties on a monthly basis
- Provide general administrative support to the MOW team
- Other duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor degree in communication, marketing, education or equivalent is preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working within not-for-profit marketing, community building, fundraising, and outreach activities
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Outstanding written, oral communication, and presentation skills
- Strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, training, coordination and retention
- Ability to work independently, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community driven
- Ability to think creatively, conceive, and implement new ideas
- Ability to communicate fluently in English, spoken and written
- Bilingual (French/English) is an asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Must provide a clear Police Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector Check
- Current driver’s license and access to a vehicle an asset
- If own a car, must have a minimum of $1M automobile insurance coverage.

**Full time 37.5 hours per week - 6 month casual position beginning May 1st and ending October 31st, 2023 with a possibility of an extension**

**$30 per hour plus statutory benefits**

**Monday to Thursday 8:00 am - 3:30 pm and Fridays 8:00 am
- 2:30 pm.**

**Some evenings and weekends as needed for special events or community presentations**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

**Salary**: $30.00 per hour
