**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Summer Community Development Support Coordinator will work with community development staff to collect and analyze data, conduct and compile research, and execute community engagement projects as they relate to the ongoing programs and services offered by the Neighbourhood & Volunteer Services, and Community Developer team. They will help design, coordinate, and teach training for community groups and non-profit organizations in collaboration with area Community Developers. They will support Neighbourhood Placemaking projects and logístical support and project planning. The position may be responsible for supervising volunteers during event days. The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and executing set up and take down of equipment and transportation of supplies for events and programs. The position will be based out of the George Dixon Centre, but will rotate through working at the Findlay Community Centre, North Preston Community Centre, Chocolate Lake Centre, and Lebrun Recreation Centre.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education and Experience**
- Post-secondary education in Community Development, Recreation, Urban Planning, Education or another related field.
- Must have one year/summer experiencing planning and implementing community development projects or events.
- Must have good organizational skills
- Must have experience conducting and compiling research
- Must have a valid NS driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Experience with promotion using social media considered an asset
- Non-profit board related experience an asset
- Familiarity with Place-making an asset

**Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities**
- Current certification in Emergency First Aid and Level C CPR (CSA Basic) is an asset
- Successful completion of all-in house-training requirements (Including High Five and WHMIS) prior to start date

**WORK STATUS**:Casual/Seasonal - ending August 25th, 2023

**HOURS OF WORK**: Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm. Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule; some evenings and weekends may be required.

**SALARY**:Non-Union; $19.50 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)

**WORK LOCATION**:Various locations across Halifax Regional Municipality (primary office - George Dixon Community Centre)
