The Program Supervisor provides oversight and delivery of two Programs - Choose 2 Change intimate partner violence diversion program and the Prostitution Offender Diversion consumer reduction program. The position delivery mainly entails case management, reporting and some program design as it relates to continued improvement of the programs and opportunities for new programming in the areas of partner violence and commercial sexual exploitation. The responsibilities encompass the areas of direct client service, leadership, planning, organizing, program development, supervision of program staff, communication, resource management and continuous quality improvement. Close working relationships are to be maintained with other ministry units, Manitoba Justice, law enforcement and related community agencies.
- Permanent full time 37.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday 9am - 4:30pm with occasional Saturdays and weekday evening

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- To oversee the provision of comprehensive services (case management, group facilitation) to clients as required including interviewing, assessment, counseling, evaluation, referral, follow-up and acts as a resource for the broader staff team and people who attend to the unit.
- To train, supervise and assist in the hiring of staff and students by establishing and conducting orientation sessions and training.
- To act as program liaison with the community, community agencies, legal personnel, courts, and law enforcement
- Active support for and understanding of the mission and purpose of the Salvation Army in Canada
- Being able to carry out work with people involving various challenges such as addiction, homelessness and other poverty related concerns as well as honoring First Nations peoples’ unique gifts and challenges.
- To initiate and participate in program promotion and public relations within the community and the Criminal Justice system as directed by the executive director.
- To participate as a member of the ministry unit management team

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:
**Minimum Education Level Attained and Work Experience**
- Degree in social work or field related to position (criminal justice, couples counselling, etc.)
- Experience working with people (primarily men) who are engaged in the criminal justice system.
- Minimum of three years of prior related experience, including experience in direct counseling environments, which may also include issues of homelessness, mental health, unemployment, abuse, addiction, parenting and / or marriage.

**Special Licenses, Diplomas, Certifications or Requirements**:
The incumbent must have the following before hire:

- Membership in appropriate professional body.
- Completion or intended completion and maintenance of updated clear vulnerable adult and child registry checks and clear criminal record check, mental health first aid and non violent crisis intervention

**PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES**:

- Being familiar with treatment and therapy models of practice regarding intimate partner violence, emotional regulation and commercial sexual exploitation as it relates to the demand for prostitution related activities.
- Knowledge and experience in individual counselling and group facilitation in a mandated setting
- Knowledge and support of Restorative Justice practices in the criminal justice setting
- Understanding of the impact of trauma on individuals and couples
- Thorough knowledge of available services in the community to refer clients for follow up services
- Training and/or experience of First Nations people’s unique gifts as well as the challenges faced such as colonization, racism and oppression.
- Prior leadership and supervision experience in social services is an asset
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to coach/mentor staff and work within that framework
- Ability to work well alone and in a team setting
- Self-motivated and able to set priorities
- Computer and technology skills - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database systems (e.g. HIFIS)
