The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history and a natural way of life. Many of our members live in the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, and our traditional lands range over a large portion of Athabasca oil sands deposits. **Who You Are**

We're seeking a Full-time Human Resources Director to drive our strategic people plan and lead HR functions. As the HR Director, you'll shape our organizational culture, oversee employee relations, and champion talent development initiatives.

**This role can be based in Edmonton, Fort McMurray, or Fort Chipewyan, AB, with a preference for Fort Chipewyan.**

**What You Will Be Doing**
- Developing and implementing HR strategic plans aligned with organizational goals.
- Providing leadership in HR initiatives to drive business performance and growth.
- Overseeing recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and performance management.
- Fostering a positive work environment and promoting open communication.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Supporting Health and Safety programs to maintain a safe workplace.

**What We Are Looking For**
- Post-secondary Degree or diploma in Business Administration or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of office administration practices.
- Ability to manage multiple calendars and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of First Nations communities and experience in building relationships with them.

**Other Requirements**
- Possess a valid Class 5 AB driver’s license and own or access to a vehicle.
- Willingness and ability to travel to Fort Chipewyan as required.
- Willingness and ability to work after hours and/or weekends when required.
- Willingness to submit to an oath of confidentiality and successful completion of criminal record check,.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to speak and/or understand the Cree language (or another applicable First Nation language) would be beneficial.

**Benefits and Compensation Highlights**
- The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $150,000 yearly, dependent on education and experience.
- Full-time position with typical office hours consisting of 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday however flexibility will be required for occasional work on evenings and weekends (with encouragement and support for a work-life balance)
- Northern Living Allowance - if work location is Fort Chipewyan. If relocating to Fort Chip Staff Housing can be arranged.

**Salary**: $100,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
