Over the past 20 years, the Common Law Section of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa has become a national and global leader in many fields. Position Purpose:
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Recruitment and liaison activities: Oversees the recruitment and admissions process for programs under own responsibility. To this end, develops and provides information to prospective students in order to advise them on program options and admission requirements, taking into account their prior education and career goals.
Designs and implements innovative provincial and national recruitment strategies for JD programs. Designs and coordinates recruitment activities to stimulate university student interest in studying at the Faculty and to fulfil the Faculty’s objectives, including promotion of diversity and inclusion. Plans and coordinates visits with prospective students to promote the Common Law Section’s programs, achievements and current activities.
Communications management: Anticipates requirements and produces print and web content to better meet day-to-day operational needs, in compliance with web and accessibility standards, official language requirements, and Faculty and uOttawa policies. Develops and assesses performance indicators to check website traffic and usability, and coordinates improvements to ensure maximum effectiveness of the Admissions Office website.
Admission file processing: Analyzes and prepares admission files according to University requirements, ensuring that all conditions for admission are met. Checks student status lists for accuracy and makes any necessary corrections. Determines applicant eligibility, prepares files for evaluation by admission committees, and manages entry of evaluation committee recommendations.
What you will bring:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience- Juris Doctor_ (JD) degree is an asset- Experience in academic administration, liaison activities and academic recruitment (preferably in law), with a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role-
- Superior analytical, organizational and research skills; attention to detail- Experience in solving problems and taking decisions- Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, with a focus on consultation, analysis and feedback- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment- Experience in using Microsoft Office suite tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), word processors, Windows and the Internet- Experience with academic information systems and online admission tools- Listening skills and strong work ethic- Bilingualism - English and French (spoken and written)
