Facilities and Maintenance Foreman

**PURPOSE and SCOPE**
Manage skilled trades contractors in maintaining and improving equipment and facilities at MacDon. Develop and grow a culture of Customer Service to internal customers through strong collaboration, teamwork, and relationship building. Lead the Tool Crib to provide timely support of hand and specialty tools to Manufacturing. Ensure the department’s processes are followed and adherence to the collective agreement. This position guarantees safety procedures are followed and is responsible for ensuring the safety of employees.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities that this position must focus on, must achieve and must excel at**:
- Plan and execute facilities and maintenance work required for the Preventative Maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Lead and coach the supervisors and participate in performance management of department employees.
- Ensure all direct reports and external contractors working on site follow safety procedures as detailed in the MacDon safety manual.
- Manages the department’s physical workspace to the highest standards of organization and cleanliness.
- Responsible for the selecting, arranging/coordinating, safety of, quality of work, and performance of work by third-party, Skilled Trades contractors such as HVAC, compressed air systems, millwrights
- Responsible for arranging and coordinating third party contractors in the maintenance of Life Safety Systems including alarms, emergency lighting, sprinkler systems
- If or when Contractor licenses exist, this position will be the MacDon contact for Manitoba Hydro for electrical and natural gas maintenance, upgrades and audits (including annual transformer testing)
- Maintenance of equipment in accordance with the preventative maintenance program.
- Investigation and root cause analysis for incidents involving Maintenance Department personnel, and collaboration with other area foremen where maintenance work in process may have been a factor.
- Responsible for overseeing the internal Tool Crib (ordering, repairing, calibrating, assigning hand and specialty tools used in manufacturing)
- Responsible for managing the Spare Parts Warehouse for Facilities and Maintenance and ensuring adequate critical spares are inventoried.
- Ensure collective agreement is adhered to, including issuing discipline and grievance handling.
- Participate in the internal hiring process including interview, testing and selection.
- Approves performance reviews. Ensures alignment of skills and development plan(s) for individual employees.
- Data gathering, analysis, and reporting department performance metrics.
- Actively participate and drive improvement in area including participating and leading Kaizen Activity.
- Investigate and correct internal customer satisfaction issues.
- Assists Superintendents as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education and Experience**
- Relevant post secondary education in Skilled Trades (Journeyman level preferred), Facilities Engineering (P. Eng preferred), or Technology/Technologist (CTTAM preferred), or Operations
- Five years of experience in a similar role or previous experience in a Supervisory role in a Manufacturing environment.
- Five years of experience working and overseeing skill trades Contractors.
- Five years of experience of Building Codes and Building Permits
- Lean Green Belt certification an asset.
**Skills and Knowledge**
- Strong knowledge of safety requirements including material handling, WHMIS and equipment run up safety procedures.
- Working knowledge of skilled trades such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air systems.
- Previous experience working with a Collective Agreement an asset.
- Strong teamwork and customer service skills
- Strong relationship building skills including collaboration and respectful workplace
- Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Greenbelt, Facilitation and Problem Solving Skills
