Under the general direction of the Water Treatment Systems Engineer, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for scheduling, monitoring, analyzing and tracking maintenance requirements for the water supply, treatment, and distribution facilities. These include, but are not limited to, the Shoal Lake Intake Facility, the Shoal Lake and Branch Aqueducts, the Greater Winnipeg Water District Railway, Plinguet Yard, the Winnipeg Drinking Water Treatment Plant, the Deacon Reservoirs, the Deacon Booster Pumping Station & Chemical Feed Facility, and in-town booster and regional pumping stations.

The water supply, treatment, and distribution facilities are valued at almost $1 billion and have an annual maintenance budget of approximately $2.5 million. This position is key to providing safe, reliable, and uninterrupted 24/7 water treatment and supply service to the City of Winnipeg.

**As the **_Facilities Maintenance Planner_**_ _**you will**:

- Identifying, planning, coordinating, and monitoring preventative and corrective maintenance activities for all water supply, treatment, and distribution facilities.
- Communicating with other groups to plan maintenance work.
- Supporting the delivery of operational and capital projects.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the classification and works within policies and regulations established by the City/Department.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Minimum of a Journeyperson Certification recognized in Manitoba in a related trade (e.g. Industrial Mechanic, Electrician, Plumber) or;
- Technologist Diploma (preferably Instrumentation, Mechanical, or Electrical) from a recognized Institute of Technology and registration as Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.).
- Formal training in maintenance planning and/or predictive maintenance is an asset.
- A minimum of five years of relevant trade experience and/or related experience in an industrial setting including experience in maintenance;
- Experience leading projects and teams effectively.
- Experience organizing, coordinating, and managing work of a team.
- Experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial systems and equipment of various vintages.
- Experience executing sound judgment while working under pressure and under stressful conditions.
- Experience updating, reading, and interpreting drawings, specifications, charts, schematics, manuals, catalogues, reports, and tables.
- Experience assessing risk and setting priorities.
- Experience obtaining consensus within a working group.
- Experience collecting and compiling data for the preparation of detailed reports and documentation.
- Ability to assist in the analysis of maintenance diagnostic test results (e.g. vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.).
- Extensive knowledge of the technical principles, trade practices, and technology relevant to the maintenance of modern and vintage water supply, treatment, and distribution systems.
- Extensive knowledge of large industry equipment such as pumps, fans, compressors, boilers, and their associated components.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts (including suppliers and contractors), and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the occupational hazards, safety precautions, regulations, and procedures that are applicable to the position’s area of work.
- Knowledge working within a unionized environment.
