Toronto, Canada The Atmospheric Fund Full time

**About TAF**

TAF is a regional climate agency that invests in low-carbon solutions for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and helps scale them up for broad implementation. We are experienced leaders and collaborate with stakeholders in the private, public and non-profit sectors who have ideas and opportunities for reducing carbon emissions. We advance the most promising concepts by investing, providing grants, influencing policies and running programs. We’re particularly interested in ideas that offer benefits beyond carbon reduction such as improving people’s health, creating new green jobs, boosting urban resiliency, and contributing to a fair society. TAF is a proud member of the Low Carbon Cities Canada (LC3) network.

Talk to our staff and they will tell you that working at TAF comes with amazing advantages. We’re on the leading edge of urban climate change solutions and our work makes a tangible difference. We build meaningful relationships with all kinds of stakeholders - from thought leaders advancing concepts to the people who implement change on the ground. Join our dedicated and collaborative team to contribute to the value and impact of our work.

**About you and the role**:
TAF’s Climate Policy team works to provide information and assistance to municipal, provincial, and federal governments to enact and improve policies that have significant emissions reduction potential. At the same time, our policy development efforts also strive to create other benefits such as improved public health, lower building operating costs, and local job creation.

As Coordinator, you’ll provide core support Coordinator for the Climate Policy team by: actively monitoring mandate-led activity across all levels of government in Canada and with a specific focus on the GTHA, coordinating and contributing to research, leading on policy work, facilitating stakeholder engagement, supporting excellent record management, and liaising with other internal TAF teams.

**What you’ll do**:
Issue Monitoring & Scanning:

- Implement and maintain an effective system to monitor government consultation processes, pending legislation, industry trends, and current events relevant to TAF’s Climate Policy mandate, providing timely and relevant updates to the Policy team.
- Proactively monitor, through outreach and desk-side research, mandate-relevant activity, and developments in municipalities, and assigned higher orders of government (provincial or federal), across the GTHA and develop research briefs summarizing key developments and opportunities for TAF.
- Monitor news, media and other agencies that report on developments relevant to TAF’s policy priorities, producing situation reports on important developments.

Research & Writing
- Conduct research to support climate change policy analysis (e.g. literature reviews, interviews with knowledge holders, environmental scans) providing top-level summaries and extracting relevant information that can be incorporated into the Policy team’s research and submissions.
- Draft and support final production of well-researched policy briefs, blog posts, and stakeholder communications.
- Project manage major submissions, drafting content and incorporating feedback from other TAF team members.

Stakeholder Identification & Engagement
- Act as the first point of contact for external inquiries to the Policy team, directly responding to requests or engaging senior team members as appropriate.
- Grow the Policy team’s stakeholder list, identifying relevant organizations, companies, and other allies in municipalities across the GTHA, and beyond.
- Identify and maintain lists of key government officials, including staff and elected leaders, and others with political influence, who can advance climate action in the GTHA.
- Participate in external meetings, taking notes and reporting back to the team.
- Represent TAF at deputations to relevant areas of work at local councils.

Administrative Support & Data Management
- Organize and maintain a comprehensive and up to date list of GTHA and/or policy stakeholders in TAF’s database.
- Identify, recommend, and implement improvements and updates to the Policy team’s SharePoint, Teamwork and Salesforce for improved internal communication and information flow.
- Provide logistics and administrative support for meetings and events, including scheduling, room or technology booking, preparing and distributing materials, presentation support, managing stakeholder invites and engagement, and preparing agendas and minutes.
- Support reporting and briefings of policy work to TAF functional teams, focus areas, and board/committee.

**The qualifications and skills we’re looking for**:
