The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing and managing the maintenance schedules and plans to ensure the efficient operation of all machinery and equipment within the food manufacturing facility. This role involves coordinating maintenance activities and personnel, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and optimizing maintenance practices to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Maintenance Scheduling and Planning:

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all equipment and machinery.
- Plan and schedule routine and preventive maintenance tasks, ensuring mínimal disruption to production operations.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to prioritize and plan maintenance activities based on production schedules and equipment needs.
- Work Order Management:

- Create, review, and manage work orders for maintenance tasks.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of work orders, including documentation of all maintenance activities.
- Track and analyze work order metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Resource and Inventory Management:

- Assist parts department with establishing inventory levels of maintenance supplies and spare parts to ensure availability when needed.
- Collaborate with procurement to order parts and materials in support of preventive maintenance schedule, to ensure successful completion of planned maintenance.
- Support successful management of maintenance budget and expenditures.
- Compliance and Safety:

- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement:

- Analyze equipment performance data and maintenance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
- Communication and Coordination:

- Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to align maintenance activities with operational goals.
- Provide training and guidance to maintenance personnel on maintenance procedures and best practices.
- Act as a liaison between maintenance staff and other departments to address maintenance-related issues and concerns.
- Reporting and Documentation:

- Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance activities, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to management.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, including equipment histories and maintenance logs.
- May require occasional overtime, weekend, or holiday work based on production schedules and maintenance needs.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:

- High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance planning or a related role, preferably in a food manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with a CMMS (MP2).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance management software.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance management systems (CMMS) and preventive maintenance practices.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a proactive approach to maintenance planning and problem resolution.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Is the principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Operation and other supported departments and is responsible for long-range as well as short-range planning.
- Strategically plan and analyze job requirements to outline, allocate and procure necessary resources.
- Develop and review preventive maintenance programs and schedules work assignments by tracking maintenance professions, reviewing preventive maintenance plans for effectiveness, creating work schedules and job packages and assigning weekly and weekend work.
- Manages work orders by tracking completed work orders, prioritizing work orders, verifying work orders for accuracy and distributing work orders.
- Maintains monthly maintenance activity and backlog reports by completing PM Compliance reports, downtime updates, tracking MOAs, and line efficiency reports.
- Tracks work order performance by examining order completion, categorizing work orders according to priority and readjusting work order completion rations based on current maintenance staffing levels.
