**Role Summary**:
The Maintenance Area Leader is responsible to ensure efficient equipment utilization through the use of Continuous Improvement (CIP), preventative maintenance planning and project management initiatives. This position is responsible to support the Team Members in the performance of their duties focusing on safety, people, quality, productivity and all company/regulatory policies and procedures.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Leads and schedules the activities of technical team members
- Develops Team Members through coaching and mentoring
- Leads Team Members in accordance with the principals of the Magna Employee’s Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the Company Handbook and Company Credo
- Promotes accountability by providing formal and informal performance feedback to Team Members, including performance appraisals and work history documentation
- Cross train team members to maximize flexibility and coverage to accommodate vacation and absences
- Provides instruction, guidance and leadership to team members by assisting in solving day to day problems
- Work with maintenance planners to organize contractors and follow up to ensure job is completed
- Monitors, tracks and improves upon key indicators in conjunction with Maintenance Planner
- Implements corrective actions for Safety, Quality, and all other audits
- Prepares plans for weekend maintenance activities and all shutdown periods in conjunction with maintenance planner
- Completes scheduled layered audits and supports 5S activities
- Ensure quality workmanship through continuous improvement and training
- Plans and directs the efficient utilization of all equipment and manpower
- Focus on quality to exceed expectations
- Report quality issues or concerns immediately; assist in containment and/or corrective actions
- Facilitates shift meetings and communicates Safety/Team Talks
- Motivate and encourage positive attitude at all times
- Performs other duties as required
**Key Qualifications/Requirements**:
- Engineering Diploma or skilled trades license
- Minimum three (3) years related Leadership experience
- Minimum seven (7) years related experience
- Minimum three (3) years experience with TPM systems maintaining equipment and facilities
- Knowledge of assembly, CNC machining and welding
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Results-oriented team player
- Effective problem solving skills with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
