**Job Title**: Peer Volunteer and Wellness Coordinator
**Area of Responsibility**:Health and Wellness, Volunteers
**Reports to**:Manager, Case Management & Health and Wellness
**Purpose of Position**:
This non-clinical, peer role ensures that our organization is staffed with the best and most reliable volunteers, for the fulfilment of our mission, and that peers have the opportunity to experience meaningful volunteer experiences. The position will coordinate and supervise a pool of peer and community volunteer for the Health and Wellness Program, and other programs of the organization, when appropriate. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing peer support to peers engaged in volunteerism; coordination, supervision and evaluation of volunteers; volunteer program development and administrative tasks. The position will also coordinate and co-facilitate a variety of social recreational activities for the Health and Wellness program.

**Coordination, Planning and Supervision**
- In partnership with the Social Recreational staff and Program Manager, identifies the need for both peer and community volunteers for the Health and Wellness program.
- Provides orientation, supervision, support and evaluation of volunteers (peer and community) for the Health and Wellness Program, agency client events, committees and client transportation.
- Provides coaching, training, leadership, and guidance for volunteers
- Matches interested peers and volunteers with opportunities that suit their skill set, and serves the clients and organization.
- Ensures that volunteers are comfortable with their placements, and fully understand their responsibilities.
- Provides direct onsite support and supervision to volunteers, when needed for orientation, training, or program/event coverage and safety.
- Arranges or provides appropriate training of volunteers.
- Produces and maintains schedules for volunteers.
- Assigns responsibilities to the appropriate volunteers/teams of volunteers for large scale, special events.
- Communicates frequently with volunteers to ensure engagement and appropriateness of assignments.
- Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events to volunteers.
- Supervises volunteers in the form of written performance appraisals, one-on-one regular supervisions, field observation and program meetings, to ensure the highest possible client service
- Ensures the purpose of the organization and its actions is clearly communicated.
**Program Development**
- In partnership with program clients, volunteers and Social Recreational staff, develops monthly Health and Wellness activity calendar, special events and newsletter.
- Works as a team with Social Recreational and support staff, to ensure that Health and Wellness programming is provided safely and effectively, in a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed manner.
- Researches, plans,coordinates and implements social recreation activities, groups and special events for the Summit Housing & Outreach Programs Health and Wellness Program along with Social Recreational staff and support staff.
- Communicates frequently with Social Recreational and peer support staff to ensure seamless client service.
- Engages in community outreach and represents the program and agency in the community.
- Promotes volunteering (internally and externally) through publicity strategies and campaigns.
- Remains current in best practices in the field of volunteerism.
- Acts as an internal agency resource and champion to embed volunteerism and the Health and Wellness program, in the agency continuum of care, in partnership with the Social Recreation staff.
- Promotes volunteering by nominating volunteers for awards, and helps organize celebration events.
- Actively participates as committee member for agency-based client events.
- Participates as a positive team member at internal meetings/committees, and represents the agency on external committees, as assigned.
- Makes suggestions for program and quality improvement to Manager, in conjunction with the Social Recreation staff.
**Administrative**
- Maintains detailed volunteer HR records, per volunteer policies and accreditation standards, including, but not limited to, volunteer assignments, availabilities, preferences, resumes/ skills, supervision notes, appraisals, police checks and driver’s abstracts in partnership with the Manager of Case Management & Health and Wellness Programs
- Maintains volunteer tracking database.
- With the Manager, Case Management and Health and Wellness, and the Social
Recreational staff, monitors expenditures and takes corrective action where necessary.
- Distributes, collects and records volunteer surveys in accordance with funder requirements.
