**Bereavement Counsellor & Care Coordinator**

**Full-time**

**12-month Contract Position**

**Salary**: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

This is an exciting opportunity to support individuals who are traumatically bereaved within a unique evidence-based program. Heartache2Hope is a charitable Halton-based organization that provides grief support to children, teens, and adults across Ontario who have experienced a suicide loss. Our goal is to help individuals heal from suicide loss while building resilience and recreating a fulfilling life. Our services include both Professional and Peer Support, Individual and Group Supports. We offer 12-week Closed Groups, Semi-monthly Open groups (drop-in sessions), Individual Grief Counselling, specialized Trauma Therapy, Individual Peer Support, and Wellness Activities. We also host a yearly community event for suicide loss grievers and provide educational workshops about traumatic loss, grief and coping strategies.

We are looking for a Bereavement Counsellor & Care Coordinator who shares our passion for care. The Bereavement Counsellor & Care Coordinator will be an integral part of the clinical team, helping to lead the expansion of our supportive programming for Children, Youth, and Adults in the goal of better serving a diverse client base.

**Qualifications and Competencies**:

- Master of Social Work degree (preferred), or degree in a related discipline.
- A member in good standing with the applicable regulatory college
- Minimum 1 years’ experience working with traumatically bereaved clients of all ages and diverse backgrounds
- Experience in providing trauma-informed care an asset
- Additional training/education/certifications in Grief & Bereavement, traumatic death, trauma/PTSD, trauma-related treatments (e.g., CPT, EMDR), and/or Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction an asset
- Knowledge and awareness of the life experiences and needs of diverse, equity-deserving groups
- Demonstrated ability to relate to traumatically bereaved individuals in ways that build trust and confidence, with compassion and caring attitude
- Proven interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Experience in individual counselling and group facilitation
- Experience in program development and delivery
- Comfort with online counselling
- Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dropbox
- Lived experience as a member of an equity-deserving community an asset

**Position Requirements**:

- Police Vulnerable Sector Check required
- Completion of Heartache2Hope’s 36-hour Bereavement Support Training Program
- Experience working within the non-profit sector an asset

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assist with all aspects of our supportive programming, including Inquiries, Intakes, grief counselling, support group facilitation, and volunteer management
- Assist in development and implementation of our comprehensive suicide loss grief support program for children, youth, and diverse groups. This project includes needs assessment; adaptation/creation of programming and materials; marketing; recruitment and training of volunteers
- Conduct individual trauma and bereavement assessments of individuals’ needs and develop a care plan meeting their needs
- Provide age appropriate and culturally sensitive grief counselling/therapy to children, youth, and adults who experienced a suicide loss, in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures set out by Heartache2Hope
- Provide trauma and grief related education and information to individuals, families, and groups
- Support outreach activities to educate community members and organizations about suicide loss
- Provide client-centered, holistic care

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Oakville, ON
