Position: Finance Committee Member

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the community by supporting those experiencing grief and loss? Lighthouse, a dedicated Grief Training and Resource Centre, is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our Finance Committee. As a Committee Member, you will play an important role in ensuring Lighthouse manages its resources to provide on-going delivery of services to grieving children in our communities.

Key Responsibilities:

· Manages and oversees financial controls

· Develops policies and procedures relating to finance and contingency planning

· Provides support in the development of the annual budget

· In conjunction with the Fundraising Committee, develops an annual cash flow forecast and reviews the Gift and Fundraising policy

· Liaises with the auditors and bookkeeping company to ensure accurate recording of all transactions and the completion of the annual audit

· Develops recommendations for the Investment Policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

· A financial designation or similar experience (15+ years) in financial controls, budgeting, and investing

· Demonstrated leadership and communication skills

· Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and community members

· A sincere desire to support the Lighthouse organization and our children and families

· Availability for monthly meetings and fundraising events

· Experience working with not-for-profit or charity organizations would be an asset

Commitment:

· Minimum of 2-year, maximum of 6-year commitment

· Monthly online committee meetings from September to June with the occasional in-person meeting to replace a virtual meeting as arranged by the committee Chair in conversation with the committee.
