Production Manager

**Position Summary**:
The Production Manager manages all aspects of production, at Hamilton Drydocks, as it relates to project deliverables.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead a team of production supervisors and assume responsibility for the safety and well being of all employees within production.
- Active participation in the development and execution of the Project Schedule.
- Ensure team is aligned and supported to ensure successful execution of the project deliverables - Schedule, Cost, Quality.
- Accountable for the financial performance of production activities.
- Responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Ensure that Quality process, procedures and standards are adhered too.
- In conjunction with the PM office, help in the identification of work arisings.
- Support the PM office as required to ensure a successful outcome.
- Ensure that all dry-docking services are completed properly (e.g., gangways, shore connection, emergency fire line).
- Lead, develop, oversee, and schedule Supervisors, Workers, and Staff required to successfully complete projects and build towards future requirements.
- Take corrective action in situations requiring immediate intervention, including interpretation of company policies, work rules/instructions and quality issues.
- Where necessary, coordinate with purchasing to ensure that orders are within budget and fit for purpose.
- Consistently review existing operational policies, procedures and practices as related to production to identify areas of improvement and then implement changes.
- Active participation in meetings to support relevant stakeholders as required.
- Perform those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including provision for the selection and development of employees, budget administration, employee safety, organization goals and objectives and planning, organizing integrating and measuring the work performed within the department
- Other duties as required
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Relevant post-secondary education and/or certifications.
- 10+ years of relevant progressive industry experience (Shipyard Management or Marine Construction) or ten (10) years of General Management experience in heavy industry.
- Consideration will be given to a combination of maritime training and seagoing experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively at different levels within the organization and to influence successfully and openly at all levels both internally and externally.
- Canada Top-Secret Security clearance or eligible for clearance is a requirement.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate employees to work as a team.
- Strong ability to coach employees and support development programs.
- Excellent problem solver.
- Six Sigma training and change management expertise considered an asset
