**The Opportunity**

The Manager, Central Support Services provides strategic leadership and functional direction, advice, and guidance on matters of policy, procedures, or precedent related to financial and administrative services for all divisions within the Community Services Department as well as manages the Central Support Services Division.

The role reports to the General Manager, Community Services and accountabilities include:

- Manages and leads the preparation of annual Departmental capital and operating budgets; administers expenditures, collaborates with Department managers to identify priorities, and monitors the annual capital and operating budgets for the Department and the Division.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with City Council, other Departments, private and public officials, the media, and the general public.
- Manages the direction and the day-to-day operation of the Central Support Services Division.
- Degree in business administration majoring in accounting, commerce or related discipline together with a professional accounting designation, and a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible management experience in finance, administration, strategic planning, customer services and business management.
- Experience at a senior management level in a large, unionized government or private sector organization.
- Knowledge of regulations/legislation and processes related to financial reporting for local governments, generally accepted accounting principles for the public sector as prescribed by the Public Sector Accounting Board of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable legislation, related regulations, municipal by-laws, and grant contribution agreements.
