Canada Customs Compliance Lead

**Overview**:
**Duties**:
- Work with Canada Team and with external Clients to clearly document processes.
- Act as a Senior Lead on all Customs Compliance Projects.
- Identify compliance training opportunities with the PAMs (Personal Account Managers)
- Promote and facilitate diagnosis of the flow of work and information to identify improvement priorities.
- Essential Functions to include but not limited to:
- Maintain expertise of trade compliance regulations and issues.
- Ensure the adoption of new trade compliance practices and regulations.
- Secure necessary internal and external compliance controls.
- Support growth in identifying current and potential risks in all operations.
- Drive the development tools for compliance and efficiency.
- Optimize supply chain flows while mitigating risk.
- Assure implementation of tools and best practices.
- Work on continuous improvement programs to optimize the most cost effective and efficient processes available.
- Provide skilled support, on-going training and guidance to the custom’s team, drawing upon hands-on experiences to ensure individual and team success.
- Audit team members for accuracy of work.
- Timely implementation of projects.
- Develop and maintain compliance and best practice SOP’s
- Support the operations team with technical knowledge required under the Customs Act.
- Trouble shooting & problem solving with team members when operational challenges arise.
- Other duties may be assigned by management.
**Experience**:
- Be a certified CBSA Licensed Broker for ten or more (10) years with hands-on Customs Brokerage experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
- Able to analyze and interpret government tariff schedules, regulations, general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
- High attention to detail.
- Proficient in usage of CBSA Processing.
- Good understanding of international logistics and transportation and related legal requirements
- Enforce work standards and documented procedures.
- The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
