**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Payroll Processing**:

- Manage the full payroll cycle, including data entry, processing, and distribution of paychecks.
- Verify timekeeping records and ensure accurate calculation of wages, benefits, and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal payroll regulations, including tax withholdings, benefits, and employment standards.
- Handle payroll for different employee categories, including full-time, part-time, hourly, and contract workers.
- **Payroll Systems & Reporting**:

- Maintain and update payroll systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Generate and distribute payroll reports to management and stakeholders.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit statutory payroll filings, including T4s, ROEs, and other tax documents.
- **Compliance & Auditing**:

- Stay current with changes in payroll laws and regulations, ensuring company-wide compliance.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll records and procedures to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues from employees and management.
- **Team Collaboration**:

- Work closely with HR to manage employee benefits, including deductions for health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
- Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and budgeting.
- Provide training and support to HR and other departments on payroll-related matters.
- **Process Improvement**:

- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in payroll operations.
- Develop and document payroll procedures and best practices.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- **Certifications**:

- Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) through the National Payroll Institute (NPI), formerly known as the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA).
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is required.
- Other relevant certifications in payroll or human resources are an asset.
- **Experience**:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations, including Alberta-specific laws.
- Experience with payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Ceridian).
- Experience in the Early Childhood Education sector is an asset, though not mandatory.
- **Skills**:

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
