Calgary, Canada Mount Royal University Full time

**Job Description**:
**About MRU**:
Founded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. Mount Royal has carved out a distinct niche by offering smaller class sizes, a robust liberal education and unique undergraduate programs. Currently, more than 15,000 credit students choose from 13 bachelor degrees and 38 majors.

Mount Royal University is located in the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut'ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda. We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is "Mohkinstsis," which we now call the city of Calgary. The city of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation.

Mount Royal University’s English Language Program is situated within the Office of International Education. The English Language Program is a full time, non-credit program for domestic and international English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners. Its focus is classroom-delivered academic English courses that prepare learners for entry into post-secondary study. Programs and courses are delivered face-to-face, online and on-site in Canada and overseas.

**About the Role**:
The Manager of Mount Royal University's Language Education for Academic Purposes (LEAP) program serves as part of the MRU International team and has a combined academic and operations management role.

Reporting to the Director, International Education, the Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Language Education for Academic Purposes program. The role is responsible for the program’s overall success, including academic outcomes and meeting financial revenue and growth targets. The role is accountable for talent management of program instructors, including the staffing of teaching assignments, admission evaluation, class schedules and changes, student and instructor concerns/grievances, and the coordination/supervision of program instructors.

The Language Education for Academic Purposes program provides online and face-to-face language instruction to students from both local and international communities as well as short-term courses in English as an Additional Language and English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) for faculty development.

The LEAP Manager demonstrates a commitment to service excellence while upholding MRU's vision, mission, values and goals cited in the MRU strategic Plan, the MRU Academic Plan and the MRU Students Division Strategic Plan. The role may also require occasional travel to conferences and professional meetings within and outside of Canada.

**Qualifications**:

- Education - University Master's Degree or Post-Graduate studies in a related discipline with TESL certification.
- Experience - Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in post-secondary international education and English language program leadership, including program and curriculum development, ESL classroom experience, human resources management, coordination, and student and program evaluation.
