The Nova Scotia Working Woodlands Trust (NSWWT) is an exciting new initiative that marries traditional conservation and small woodland stewardship. We aim to uphold a rich diversity of forest values and provide unique solutions to maintain the long-term stewardship legacy of landowners through ecological forestry and conservation.

The NSWWT works with private landowners to maintain their stewardship legacies and conserve forest health for the benefit of the community, environment, and future land stewards. Our team is growing and made up of fun, passionate and hard-working conservation and sustainable forestry enthusiasts. The NSWWT has been incubated through the Medway Community Forest Co-op (MCFC). The MCFC is Eastern Canada’s first Crown land community forest initiative, and leads a variety of projects focused on forestry, recreation and public outreach on our 15,000 hectare land base outside Caledonia, NS.

The Outreach and Communications Coordinator will lead the execution of our landowner engagement strategy and build targeted outreach to grow public awareness of the NSWWT and MCFC. The position requires strong written and oral communications skills, and the ability to oversee the development of new digital and print resources to expand the reach of the Trust.

Under the direction of the Executive Director and the Land Trust Manager the coordinator will be responsible for the following:

- Identify, implement, monitor and refine strategies for landowner outreach and engagement;
- Personally develop and oversee contracts for the creation of digital and print resources such as mailouts, brochures, posters etc.;
- Develop and maintain the NSWWT property database and create systems to guide and track landowner engagement and easement management;
- Conduct research to formalize profiles for priority landowners segments;
- Oversee development and implementation of annual communication, newsletters, marketing and public relations plans;
- Regularly update MCFC & NSWWT websites and collaborate with both teams to develop content (news releases, event listings, blog posts etc.) aligned with our active programs;
- Create brand awareness by developing social media content and executing targeted social media and marketing campaigns;
- Monitor online marketing metrics to track success and analyze data to make recommendations for optimization.

**Mandatory Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, environmental studies, or equivalent work experience
- At least 2 years of relevant experience
- Strong oral, written and visual communication skills
- Creative with strong sense of design and branding
- Experience increasing organization reach through digital engagement
- Knowledge of website analytics and search engine optimization (SEO) best practices
- Ability to interpret digital data and make recommendations
- Passion for ecological forest conservation and stewardship.

**Compensation**: Salary for the NSWWT Outreach and Communications Coordinator position starts at $55,000 per year with additions negotiable based on experience and qualifications. The NSWWT offers benefits to all employees and a flexible work schedule.
