Founded in 1998, "Lafayette Sweets" is headquartered in the Canadian High Tech Center in Markham, Toronto. We are a multinational company in both North America and Asia that manufacturing, processing and distributing baking products and providing technical support for various companies such as airlines, hotels, cafes, retail and grocery chains and food services corporations.

We are searching for a General Manager - Pastry Operations to join our team.

Job Title: General Manager - Pastry Operations

**Requirements**:

- College Diploma or equivalent experience
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in: Supervisory experience in a pastry production facility producing shelf-stable pastry (non-frozen items) to many restaurants/retailers; and knowledge in production of Chinese buns, sweet and salty traditional Chinese pastries of the Suzhou/Hangzhou region
- Language: May communicate in English

The Basic Duties and Responsibilities will be:

- Control and evaluate all aspects of pastry operations and production within our manufacturing establishment
- Monitor the production process to ensure efficiency and quality, and implement strategies to optimize production output and minimize waste
- Plan and direct pastry preparation to supply to several restaurants, bakery & dessert retailers in our manufacturing establishment
- Plan and implement changes to machinery and equipment, production systems and work methods to optimize productivity
- Establish and manage a quality control inspection system for pastry products and implement production reporting procedures
- Conduct research to develop and explore new recipes, flavors, and ingredients for Southern China Suzhou/Hangzhou region sweet and salty pastry items
- Test and evaluate new product items and ensure food products meet quality standards and taste expectations
- Estimate ingredient requirements, and calculate food and labor costs for pastry production
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of chefs/cooks/helpers at our manufacturing establishment
- Provide training to staff on pastry preparation techniques, production processes, and quality standards
- Ensure our manufacturing establishment operates in accordance with government requirements, including food safety and hygiene regulations

**Salary**: From $43.50 per hour
