Alma Care is on a mission to revolutionize postpartum care for Canadians. We’re Canada's first postnatal care retreat, located in the Kimpston St. George luxury hotel in Yorkville, Toronto. Due to high demand, we have expanded our services to AT-HOME care.
We’re expanding our team and are looking for dynamic individuals with perinatal care experience to join us on the journey to improving new parents' lives. Not only is Alma Care focused on the wellbeing of the mothers and babies, we want to ensure that the overall experience is authentic, memorable and valuable for the families with the signature Alma Care touch.
**About the Role**: Our Care Team Members become an extension of each new family who signs on for care with Alma. They’re kind, knowledgeable, proactive and highly responsive. They demonstrate a high level of professionalism, while making the family feel expertly taken care of. They are a trusted resource, shoulder and set of hands. They believe in our mission and are passionate about executing on it.
Some responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Guiding and supporting Mom through the vital aspects of newborn care such as sleep, feeding, routines, soothing, bathing and general care
- Educating and supporting Mom on the importance of, and how to recover after giving birth
- Guiding and supporting Mom through breastfeeding
- Providing emotional comfort, reassurance, and a listening ear
- Ensure that Mom and Baby are comfortable and cared for at all times
- Light housework (tidying, laundry, sterilizing botttles, etc)
- Light food prep (chopping, warming meals, preparing tea, etc)
- Provide support for the whole family through this transition period
**About You**:
- You’re an experienced care professional with a strong background of supporting families during their postpartum journey.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working with newborns.
- Committed to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues. Experience in the hospitality sector, namely in the hotel industry, is a strong asset.
- Maintain best practice, care standards and life-long learning in the care field.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- You demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
- You have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
- You value the relationship you create with patients, their families and within the workspace
- You are dynamic and can adapt to high level stress situations
- You are resourceful, there’s no problem too big to solve.
- You are ultimately Alma Care’s ambassador and a true representation of the brand
- Experience with multiples is an asset
- Experience with siblings/toddlers/sibling transitions an asset
- Hiring for all of GTA but HAMILTON, MARKHAM, GUELPH, YORK + BARRIE high demand
**Qualifications**:
- Doula (DONA or CAPPA), Personal Support Worker (PSW) and/or Perinatal Support Worker (PNSW) preferred
- Must have Perinatal + Newborn care experience
- Vulnerable Sector Check ( within a year)
- Valid Infant CPR (Level B) and First Aid Certifications
- Food handlers (preferred)
- Proof of personal insurance
Schedule
- Min 2-3 shifts (day, evening, overnight, weekends and holidays)
- Flexible schedule (on call)
- You are willing to commute within a 40km radius to clients homes
- You have your own transportation (an asset)
