**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager of the Emergency Department, the Clinical Leader Development acts as a resource to interdisciplinary team members by identifying, prioritizing, implementing and evaluating strategies that support competency development and maintenance of team members. Working in collaboration with the Emergency Department Care Team, the Clinical Leader Development facilitates a learning environment whereby team members are supported to work to their full scope of practice and/or scope of employment. The Clinical Leader Development has overall responsibility for on-going continuing education and support associated with new and returning staff, new preceptors, practice and equipment changes, quality initiatives, and family-centred care. The Clinical Leader Development demonstrates excellence in leadership, role-modeling, communication and organizational skills, problem solving and decision-making.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborates with ongoing orientation and learning for new and transferring staff, as well as learner placement initiatives. Focus on Bedside preceptorship and mentoring.
- Demonstrates support and commitment to professional development.
- Mentors staff through supporting, teaching, role modeling and coaching.
- Mentors preceptors in competency development process for new staff.
- Identifies clinical issues requiring staff education and works collaboratively with the Pediatric Critical Care Team to address learning needs.
- Role models professional practice and promotes best practice.
- Acts as a clinical resource for staff in patient/family care issues.

**Hours of Work**:
Monday to Friday and Weekends, 11.25 hour day shifts.

**Your Qualifications**:

- Registered, or eligible to be registered, with Nova Scotia College of Nursing required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Compensatory experience and education will be considered
- Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in pediatric emergency nursing required
- Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support Level (BLS) Program within the last 12 months, or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate, required.
- Recent experience with preceptor role an asset.
- CNA Certification in Critical Care Nursing an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning required
- Completed continuing education in adult education/learning, leadership or team training an asset.
- Demonstrated time management, communication (verbal and written), organizational and interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated leadership, delegation, critical thinking and problem-solving skills involving innovation/creativity in solution development.
- Proven team building, leadership, goal development and evaluation skills.
- Competency in other languages considered an asset
