Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager, Strategic Communications, this position is responsible for the tactical execution of the digital communications strategies developed by the Strategic Communications team.

Major Job Responsibilities- Prepares and implements digital communications campaigns, and media relations and internal communications- Curates content for digital communications activities outlined in the communications strategies- Provides tactical support on public relations initiatives- Researches, writes, and edits media products for review- Prepares content, schedules, and monitors social media for corporate channels- Monitors and reports on trends and issues related to the Town of Milton on social media platforms- Acknowledges and reinforces positive messages received through the Town’s social media channels according to practices approved by the Manager- Identifies and reports negative comments received through the Town’s social media channels to the Manager- Prepares responses to customer service inquiries for approval by the Manager- Prepares regular reports on social analytics to incorporate in campaign reports to client groups, and overall performance reporting on corporate channels- Plans and coordinates special events and logistics for corporate internal events, or corporate-focused external events (e.g., media conferences, ribbon cutting ceremonies)- Identifies event plan requirements, conducting research and staff interviews- Determining objectives and identifying invited guests and media representatives- Prepares event invitations and save the date products, composing invitations, event remarks, speeches, media advisories and releases, and cutlines for photos for the Mayor, CAO, Commissioners, Directors and other senior staff involved in the agenda

Education & Experience- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Corporate Communications is required- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Public Relations, Communications or equivalent is preferred- Membership in the Canadian Public Relations Society (APR) is preferred- Membership in the International Association of Business Communicators is preferred- 2+ years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations or a related industry- Experience in communications planning, public relations, public engagement and media relations- Experience with using various digital platforms, including video and experience in a municipal government setting is an asset- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, including proficiency in clear communications- Demonstrated ability to respond to changing direction and priorities- Proficiency in all aspects of digital and social media- Willingness and ability to take direction- Presentation and partnership development skills- Knowledge of the principles and best practices of public engagement- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving- Strong knowledge of Canadian Press Style, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (OADA) regulations and Canadian Anti-spam legislation requirements What We Offer

This contract position is eligible for the following:
Annual Salary Range: $59,983 - $74,979 (based on a 35-hour work week)- Participate in the OMERS pension plan- Paid time-off (vacation and incidental time)- Hybrid work environment.
